My dad saved all his dealer paperwork and one day he passed it to me.

He bought other cars in between but he loved Oldsmobiles from his first '55 and he only went to Hames Oldsmobile.

I researched the "202 engine" and I believe it's a higher HP engine to remind me he was a gearhead.

Got any of this? Your dad order a 427 Corvette?

Went through my dad's papers on his passing, the car purchase paperwork and the hospital bills for the delivery of us three offspring were in the same file.

I don't have any dealer papers but I have the owner's manual for my dad's 55 Ford

My father saved stuff, but only until the next car came along.

I still have all the paperwork from all the cars that I bought new though.

That 98 would have been a hell of a car.

Somewhere around here I have the sales form for a 1932 Ford my dad bought used sometime in the middle 1930s.

To the OP, it looks like your dad's house is still there and well cared for - cool

I remember Hames Olds! My parents bought their Oldsmobiles at Jack Thompson in Oak Lawn. I'm sure they still have their papers for vehicle they bought.

It was the family car until he bought the 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass.  My father loved that car.

It was a beast - 455, 4-barrel two door behemoth of steel that cruised effortlessly up/down Interstate 55 as we came back to Chicago for every holiday to visit family.

I took it to my 1980 high school prom - opening up those 4-barrels lit a fire in my belly - that sound!  The down side was the gas mileage for a 16-year old

At the end it was a rusted, musty smelling $500 beater and was sold to a pipe fitter my dad worked with but not before I stole the air cleaner ring for future memories.
