I almost said something with a Volvo red block in it as I am well aware of Irv.

If I'm driving 1,000,000 miles, I sure as hell don't want to do it all on my own continent. How do you do it in SE Asia without drawing too much attention and still have fun? I'm thinking you phone up Q-branch and ask for one of these:
As for the reliability concern, just swap in a new 'busa engine every time you frag one.
Another choice that I would still be proud to be seen in... The original, black '88 M5.
Hmm. You're on to something there..

Just gotta say, Brock Yates was the man. I'm so glad I was able to meet him before Alzheimer's took him away. His writing and C&D antics inspired me to take the path I did. He was a legend, a true giant in the automotive world. He was damn nice and gracious when I spoke with him as well. His son--- Brock Jr. is also a class act. Sorry to derail the thread, but the Assassin was a giant in the motorsports community. Thanks for posting the pic. Good memories of a game changer.
The thought of driving a million miles makes me ill. I hope I never come close to that number. Can I answer in a few years when we have autonomous cars? I'll take one of those.
If I HAD to do it, I'd want to do it like this: http://newatlas.com/go/4003/

Hmm, that made me think. I've been driving for 29 years now and some fairly rough back-of-the-envelope calculations tells me I've driven about 625,000 miles spread around about 20 vehicles. With my shorter commute I may make it to 1 million but probably not much more.

I've been driving for 17 years and I've probably done about 225-250k. I hope to never hit 500k.
Driving 1 million miles at 60mph 16 hours a day would take 3 solid years of driving.

Well, I didn't exactly choose it, but I am probably closer than most people on this board. My daily driver will break 600K this year. I fully expect it to go well past 1,000,000 on the stock, unmolested, never rebuilt engine.
Since I am a big fan of low maintenance, I guess I have to put in a vote for my dd. My repairs are pretty much limited to oil changes and tire rotation.
Though it's not necessarily fun to drive, it's rock solid dependability makes me vote for the Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 7.3L diesel.

I was thinking this same thing. I've seen multiple PSDs with over 1 million on the clock. Mine's a young'n with 240k and I'm pretty sure it would run 1500 rpm until the sun cooled.
For me, it's a toss up.
First, a 911. A late model, with all wheel drive, a drop top, a hard top, and a roof rack. Oh, and a PDK. It seems like it'd be reliable and ready for anything shy of real off roading and hauling more than four people, two of whom would have to be small.
Porsche Macan/GLA 45 AMG - similar to above, but trades the convertible for the ability to haul normal sized people. Uber eligible, so I could even have a side-hustle if economic trouble arise before Uber goes self-driving. Slightly more off-road capable.
LR Evoque. It's not autocross classed by the SCCA, but it meets the stability rule. It's also about as capable as a crossover gets in off-road situations.
Tesla Model X ordered and delivered before supercharger charges begin. It's a tall Model S. It can tow. I don't have to buy a million miles of gas for it. Some of my miles will be free of energy costs to me.
Comfortable seats, easy to get in and out of, easy to see out of. Most likely a truck would be the best choice.
I'm with the minority who say "nothing." I don't ever want to spend that much time sitting on my shiny happy person. I might average 12k to 15k per year.
I have a friend who has 550k miles on a Porsche 996tt that he bought brand new. I think he is going for 1 million, and he is about to become the highest mileage 996 in the world according to Porsche. I think he chose well, the car is fun, comfortable, has good parts and service support that should go on for the long haul, and the ceramic brakes have paid for themselves in not wearing out like normal brakes would. He had the engine opened up at about 400k and it was fine turbos last about 250k. Very little done otherwise, aside from lots of tires and oil.
If im just driving and someone else is dealing with it, gated targa ferrari 355. Probably my favorite car (sans targa) but id add the targa in so i could pull it off on nice days.
For me to maintain, modern corvette.
I have about 300k in 1st generation RX-7s across three different cars.
The seat from the second one was so comfy that I moved it to the next one. My butt has 250k in that seat alone.
By guesstimation, I've done 450-500k in my life, not counting driving other peoples' cars at work. Thinking that close to half of that was with carbureted 12As (car #3 got EFI shortly after purchase) and over half was in one seat makes me smile.
I'd do a million in one, easily. Second choice would be a VW Type 32b. Wonderful car to sit in and click off miles.
AMG Benz of some sort or a 911. More than likely an s class or a 911TT.
I actually own a vehicle with over 1 million miles, but I've personally put less than a mile on it. 88 Peterbilt 362 and I use it to move my storage trailer around.

No. I bought it off Ebay with 225,000 on the clock. I've put over 300K on it. Paid $7200. Been a nearly free truck ever since.
