I really wanted a Monte Carlo back in the 80's, but couldn't afford one, so I bought the Mugen. I think it cost me $90, and the parts guy accidentally forgot to charge me for the hub, button and horn pad. It had been in the display case at a Honda dealership for a couple of years.

I finally bought the Monte Carlo last year, but now it seems dated.

The Fitti came with a 911 that I bought. I never would have chosen it based solely upon it's looks, but as soon as I put my hands on it I knew it was perfect.

My dream wheel is the MOMO Martini. I doubt that Keith will argue with that.

I agree that it's a classic (and I'll probably buy one of my own this year), but they are in almost every aircooled 911 out there at this point.

Well, they all look the same, so I guess it makes sense that they'd all use the same wheel

I used to run a Momo Champion in my Toyota pickup. Just because I could.

Momo Competition is awesome, but if you can find an old Champion, it's got the bonus suede upper third with the grained leather lower :)

Many hours with that one in my hands on the autocross course!

Edit: also spent some good times with a 320mm (second edit: it's a Race) in my S14... a little small in the tighter lots but real nice if your power steering is up to snuff

You guys rule. The Monte Carlo looks a little wimpy for my monkey fingers. I don't even remember who's car it was or when I drove it, but I've grabbed one of those berkeleying big girthy MOMO wheels and gone "Okay, why have I never considered upgrading a steering wheel until now?"

The "Competition" looks perfect (thanks Bravenrace. I take back all those horrible things I've said about you ) I'd love the "Prototipo" too, if I woke up to find a 328 or AC 911 in my driveway. Sadly, it's just an old honda...not old, or cool enough for that look IMO...though you guys have me thinking I need to make a wooden wheel for the Festiva

Swapping/altering the buttons for the cruise is going to be a neat trick. In my head they were a 'hanging on the inside of the wheel; make a bracket' affair. In reality, it's gping to be a PITA. I <3 cruise on the commute.

Not to look a gift wheel in the mouth, but I'm prolly gonna go "new" on this one. Thanks man!!!

I have a Mountney in my '72 Capri. I can't really say I've actually driven the car with it yet, but I do like it a whole lot. Very classic. Like this one, but with a regular Mountney center instead of the MG.

berkeleying love the Monte Carlo I've got in the MG. you said it right- when you grip one, you wonder why it took so long in the first place. Love the way the prototipo looks though.

I was surprised that the ICON dudes use a CAT haul truck steering wheel. Any one get one of those to try out?

Funny, I just bought this wheel from Pelican for my e36 M3. I spent the last few weeks looking for pictures in an e36 with no luck.

I'll have to get a picture of my Martini - it's basically a Champion (leather top) with some special stripes and "Martini Racing" embossed in the leather.

But here's the MOD.07. A friend discovered you could get it in leather instead of suede with a silver center, and it makes a really nice street car wheel. It's got a fair dish on it.

One of the issues I have with the idea of putting one of these wheels in my Miata is this.

Staring at that chunky plastic steering column behind that tiny steering hub just... bugs me. The aftermarket wheel looks incredibly out of place.

Otherwise, it's the Prototipo all the way.

I've never noticed the steering column - the flash exaggerates it. I have to say, the one I pulled out of my MG wasn't really any better.

Prototipo in a Miata.

Big chunky stock MG wheel and column.

Same MG with random Grant wheel and a Miata column. This thing needs a Prototipo, I don't know how I missed that until now.

If you have long fingers, stick w/ Momo. It is a bit thicker than the Sparcos that I have used so nicer for us guys with long appendages to get a good grip on.

I used to love the Monte Carlo until I tried the Race. It is just awesome. I'm now using the Commando in my RX7 b/c I needed a little extra space that the slightly flat bottom of the Commando provides.

I've been thinking about getting a replacement wheel for my AE92, my only problems with the stock one is that basically, mine is worn, and it's a little on the big side - a lot of people say they're enormous but for my body proportions it's not that oversized.

Out of the ones suggested here I'd look at the Momo competition (looks like the same kind of leather on the Logitech G27 BTW) and the Momo Millennium, which is very similar in shape to the stock wheel (think I'd paint the silver parts dark gray to match though...nothing looks as tacky as a wheel that stands out from the rest of the interior). I like my wheels round (no dents in the bottom) with thumb detents and 9 and 3 (no spokes at that position like the Momo Prototipo or MOD.07)

Looks like both are out of production though

Edit: Wait no, both are on their site under tuning --> steering wheels. The Millennium Evo looks like it might match my interior better, and would be friendlier to your face in an accident.

In the racing section they have an F1-style wheel that might be good on a Radical or something like that...don't even want to know the price though.

FYI, the Race is the Champion with leather on the top instead of suede. They age better.

love the prototipo the most, in silver as pictured above.

I had one on my miata, told the buyer up front that I was keeping the steering wheel and he gets an ebay special with the car. Currently its displayed on a shelf at home waiting for the right car to put it into.
