Hive, looking for interesting/useful Z parts as I always do, I ran across the following part listed for <$100. I have zero experience with ITBs and limited knowledge from watching others, but I can't seem to find any "3 + 3" ITB designs with some googling around for the L-Series engines. The ad just says "Early Z-Car, manufacturer unknown" and "Listing for a friend" so I don't think I'll see much from the seller. What is missing? What could go wrong? I am also questioning the near point Marked "6", as that should be the rearmost cylinder on the L-series...
Any input? Worth checking into? Not local to me and is marked Local Pickup Only, so I would likely need some interfacing help to get it anyway :)
Thanks!

Don't know anything about ITBs meant for Z-cars but if I had that opportunity, I'd make sure the intake spacing and bolt pattern look like a match, then buy them quick and ask other questions later. If they really are old-school ITBs for the L-series they should be worth mad mad money.
Are they for one of the V6 "early" z cars?
Weren't the L series a staggered siamese port for the intake runners?

Oure right, looks like this is for something else![](https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/prod.mm.com/uploads/2022/08/16/1660685451_images_mmthumb.jpeg)
Unless this cappuccino actively removed caffeine from my system, I don't think the top pic and the above pic bolt together.
I wonder if those fit a VG30 in a Z31 and there is a miscommunication on what constitutes "early".
Or maybe it is a sale from a mislabeled eBay auction. I bought a Mazda Turbo II bellhousing with a Jerico trans adaptor that was listed as "Subaru bellhousing from sand rail"
Man, I nearly peed my pants until I actually looked at the picture...
Still tempting. I bet you could find a home for them.
I would probably buy them anyway but I'm a hoarder so...

See: buying a bellhousing and trans adaptor, then realizing that worn out scrap Jericos still cost $2k or so.

I have been, but in the last few weeks I've offloaded a massive (for me) amount of parts and "stuff" laying around in an attempt to dig out. Was going to be a toolbox fund, but has become coilovers and whatever pops up fund.
If this was down the road from me I'd buy them anyway and figure out how to flip them, but they are ~5 hours away in Cincinnati (on Craigslist).
If they're for a VG30E, IRTBs on a Maxima?

OMG i'll totally buy them and adapt them to a Corvair engine someday.

Phone-a-friend in Cincy and you can make it happen!

As someone who owned a z31 in high school, hence the screen name. I can't see any way in hell that would fit the inside of valley of the VG30. Not to mention leave you access to the spark plugs.

So The Mystery IRTBs? It could be anything.

So, yeah, about that...

I bought them today. Mounting pattern is asymmetric, no manufacturer ID anywhere, one still has the mechanical Injectors installed. I was thinking 914-6, but the seller is a huge 914 guy and said he had no idea what they are. I'm gonna post 'em up on a couple Corvair sites and see what kind of info I can get.

Are those super dirty or is that really dark oxidation? Like magnesium oxidation?

The assemblies are much lighter than I expected, so I think the air filter bases are Mg. The tops are filter elements that are very dirty, if that's what you're asking about.
That's a pretty unique bolt pattern for the intake. With the linkages being on the same side as the overhanging filter portion, makes me thing V6 rather than inline.
In reply to AngryCorvair (Forum Supporter) :
Mechanical injector? Kugelfisher or Hillborn/Lucas??
In reply to Run_Away :
It looks really familiar, and I cannot place it.
In reply to Pete. (l33t FS) :
Mazda KLZ? The bolt pattern looks close but I've never had eyes on one of those engines in person and the intake gasket looks like a different shape on the google.
Edit: closer look at Angry's photo, those trumpets are safety wire bolted on. That intake setup was on a serious race/track car.
