I'm just curious about these cars and am wonder if there is a "best" year for them? Not planning on buying one really, just trying to expand my knowledge of 80s Japanese

As in is there any difference between model years to where a certain year may be more desirable to own? I know basic things like the 88-89 ditching the t3 turbo for a faster spooling variety and 87+ having a standard LSD but that's about it.

Not enough differences to make it worthwile to pass up a good deal. 84 & 85 are identical. 86 added a better looking better bolstered seats and side skirts. 87 got a front end and rear end update and not much else. There is an 88 special edition that included better suspension and recaro interior but they are hard to find. 89 had a few mechanical updates. If it were me I would buy the newest one that I coud afford and change the timing belt and water pump immediately.

hey thanks for the info.

Just thought there may be some serious ECU differences or something of that kind of thing.

As far as I understand the later with the t25 turbos you can just bolt in a T3 or are there other major differences where you would need more parts?
