Link to for sale thread, not mine, etc...

While it's not even in the realm of what I'm willing (or able) to spend on a car, I'd be all over this thing in a second.

I love e28s and that car is hot, but $45K is ridiculous.

Sorry seller, but you can't get back what you put in.

The Hartge belongs to Ron Perry in California. It's not cheap by any means but I won't be surprised if he can get his price - he's made something of a career out of finding mint and rare 1980s BMWs, taking them to the next level, and finding collectors to buy them. He's sold several similar cars in the last year or two for similar prices.

The CSL belongs to Mats Kinnby in Sweden. He's posted some videos of the car on Youtube, search on 'kinnby'. He also recently built a cool replica of an e28 German police car.

The Hartge was featured on the last Bimmer magazine.

Awesome. 45K, though....that's well into decent 911 territory.

Maybe I could turn mine into a replica, seeing as it's already the right colour .

I think you would have to lose the trailer hitch....

this is a good candidate for the "nice price or crack pipe" segment they have on jalopnik

Isn't that what Chevy Chase was driving in Nothing But Trouble?

Mmmm, tasty. I'd like to get my hands on an e28 Alpina someday...

My buddy recently sold an e28 M5 that was in showroom condition (~37k miles) for a LOT less than $45k. Not quite as rare as this car, but a factory M5 in mint condition.

FWIW, a local 2003 911 Coupe, 23,000 miles, 18" rims, sport package, 6-speed manual in flawless shape sold for $29,000. I checked KBB and that is the going rate. Makes you think.

nice car, but at 45k it will only appeal to a select few that apperciate the car. As a pure $$$ vs performance their are much better deals. Remeber this car is not being sold a driver. More of special show car.

I don't get it, but I can see how some guys might. No need to impune the seller as being crazy or anything.
