I threw out a super-lowball offer on a no-title non-running 1976 KZ900. Fingers are crossed. No reply yet.

In my mind, all it needs is modern tires and *maybe* a front end update with bigger brakes. And of course a 4-into-1.
I'm waiting on either a rejection or a shiny new license plate from the state of Vermont for the title-less Royal Enfield I've been working on. Should be an option for you.

So, did you get the Z1?
Seller is jagov. Which is probably exactly what he's calling me. He never replied to my initial offer, and the ad disappeared a couple days later. Then it showed up again a week or 2 ago with additional info "engine is locked up". So I replied "here we are a month later and the stated condition is worse than before. My offer of $250 stands." He replied "he haw MF", which is jagovese for "I respectfully decline, as I believe it has more value to someone else."
Value in those bikes is dictated by how original it is. The Anoraks love to pick these things apart because unlike Italian or Brit bikes where the manufacturer used whatever parts were on hand that given day, the Japanese made minor little changes at certain points in the production run and stuck with them.
Woe betide you if you have a tachometer with a semi-gloss face instead of a satin face (or similar little issues).
Most things are available but there is a shortage of transmission parts.

I had to google Anorak. I hate people like that. Many years ago I went to a Corvair-only show, rolled up in my modified late coupe: cut springs, disc brakes, black corvette rally's with flat caps and no rings. Dude directing traffic says "rims are supposed to be body color."
Lots of classic car forums really dislike those who mod their cars. Desecration of a classic, destroying that original car feel, etc. Whatever. My car my build my life. I didn't buy this and make this to please others.
I knew it was bad when the Subaru SVX owners in the late 1990's/early 2000's were giving me grief for modifying mine.
