I took the G310R in for service and recalls yesterday and this happened . . .
2020 F900R . . . I only have about 100 miles on it . . . but so far . . . What a bike! This one is has none of the techno wizardry from BMW's pricey options menu. It does have Dynamic Traction Control, Dynamic Engine Brake Control, and ABS Pro - though heated grips would have been nice. With tax, tag, and special member discounts, it was $10.4k OTD.
I know this maybe blasphemy . . . . But it feels like a naked VFR800 that is 100 lbs lighter.

Nice! Would have never guessed that was a BMW without seeing the Roundels.
Now service dept is open, I can finally spin the odometer over 600mi.
Pros:
- Engine flexibility
- Ergonomics*
- Sound
- TFT Screen
Cons:
- Weight
- Ergonomics*
- Small fuel tank
The engine is phenomenal. It is very flexible and putt around at lowly 2500-3000 rpm with any issues. This returns a spiffy ~56mpg. I haven't taken it over 6k yet, but it returns 46-50mpg on the interstate. The sound with the stock exhaust is great. I find the ergos to be pretty decent. The stock seat is comfortable for putting in the miles and time. I did find the knee angle a bit cramped (I'm a little over 6ft tall with 33in inseam). After adjusting my riding posture, everything was ok. I'm going to order a taller seat that should take care of knee angle issue.
It does have a relatively small 3.4 gal tank, putting the range between 156-190 miles for me. The F900XR comes with 4.1 gal. At 465lbs, it is not light. I find pushing my 100lbs heavier VFR800 around much easier. The F900R feels more top heavy than my Viffer.
Overall, I absolutely love this bike. The performance is great. And sound . . . Oh boy the sound this parallel twin makes. It does sting a bit to open my wallet again to fix the ergo issue . . . but BMW is going to BMW.
It looks nice, are you planning to install a motorcycle exhaust system?
Nah . . . Stock surprisingly sounds good and its appearance fit the character of the bike.
If I want more volume, I'll patiently wait for someone else to upgrade and grab their stock unit to modify.
