That was the term the seller used when I picked the bike up about 7 years ago. I can't say that he is wrong; it eats up the miles comfortably and quickly. It also isn't much good at being a sport bike, but it looks cool to my 16 year old mind that saw one of these loaded up with the Hondaline fairing and bags in the showroom when they were new.

This (hopefully) will be a mini-log of maintenance and upgrades to a 65,000 mile bike that has served me very well.
Sweet! "V65 Sabre" has been one of my nationwide CL searches for about a year, but I'm too much of a Bob Costas to pull the trigger.
Nice. They weren't all that popular when new (it seemed like most people went for the ugly Magna cruiser version) but they were good bikes. I don't think I've ever seen one with the Hondaline fairing, it kind of gives it a CBX look. My old neighbor had an unfaired Sabre and he let me take it for a ride, it was a pretty strong bike.

121 HP and 10 second quarter miles. It was pretty quick for 1984.
The fairing is the same as the CBX fairing. My next project involves the Hondaline saddlebags, which also were the same as the CBX version.
Sweet! I love how Honda was doing things in the early 80's. That's a good looking bike!

Heck, that's fast for 2018! IIRC, those and the V65 Magnas were the fastest bikes on the market in the mid to late 80's. They were king until the V-Max arrived. I had a V45 Magna for a while and loved it--- easy bike to ride, still lots of power, great sound, etc.
I also had a VF500F Interceptor with the small V4. Those engines really rip once you install aftermarket pipes!

I've been toying with adding a muscle bike to my stable for about a year but I would have to let one of the Italian bikes go and that's not going to happen.
A Sabre or a Vmax would be a ton of fun though.

In reply to Joe Gearin :
The Magna was much easier to launch than the big Sabre, especially if you are really tiny like 125lb "PeeWee" Gleason, who set the factory record on the Magna. The Sabre is a top heavy brute, but I love the looks of it, and how it eats up miles. Cruisers are really rough on my lower back.

11's sure, certainly not 10's.

Looks like the Magna did it in 10.84
