As mentioned in my last thread, I'm looking at a '16 883 Super Low, This. Not listed, but it only has 2,200 miles. Game plan is taller Progressive 412 rear suspension, a Corbin solo saddle, and factory forwards. Hopefully some 1200+ conversion after 2 or 3 years after I get more experience. Lastly, a look around Dennis Kirk only showed 3 matching sets of front and rear tires. How big an issue is that? How solid is this plan? Advice?
Do you need a Super Low? That could potentially be a rough ride, unless the progressive suspension brings it up to standard height.
I had a 2007, which was the first year for the fuel injected engine. It really was a fantastic bike...much, much better than I ever expected it to be. It was harder to find aftermarket exhaust for the fuel injected bikes, but that's probably not the case anymore.
They don't really need the 1200 conversion, unless you have a hard time accepting the fact that you have a Harley with the smallest engine.
Mine had the factory alarm system, which was truly a hateful thing, and probably the main reason that I got rid of it. You couldn't even brush against it in the garage without setting it off, and removing it meant replacing the ECU.

Not a bad option. Many more tire options than 3 sets. 1200cc conversion is not really needed, it's a peppy bike with a tuner and pipes.
I'll look a few more places for tires, but what I've seen is an odd 18 front, 17 rear combo. Like mostly cruiser/touring fronts and sport tires in the back.

The XL1200T is essentially the same bike as the XL883L, but with a 1200, bags, 2-up seat and a windshield. You might be better-served starting there if the gameplan is to convert the 883 to a 1200.
Both models feature 17-18" wheels with radial tires (120/70-ZR18 and 150/70-ZR17), whereas most other XLs have either cruiser size 16 or 19 inchers, which are bias tires.
Either way, the Progressive shocks are a fine upgrade.
