SV650 wins out, but anything against the GS500/Ninja500.
I will make some calls/emails about a few SV650 i have found. hope it works out

The only real downside to those 500s is that they're pretty old tech all around. The SV is generally more modern, and it benefits from it, for sure.
I had a SV650S and a Vstar 1100 and had more fun on the 650...
Have a 1982 Honda cb650 custom I'm rebuilding now, thought about finishing it off ala cafe racer, but most likely I'll leave it stock looking.

Have you considered a canatuna, err.. katana?
A couple of friends have had them, not bad bikes and you can definitely find them in your price range.
Personally, I'd suggest a big dual sport: XLR 650, DR 650, maybe KLR 650.
These are all old tech, but the relatively high low-end torque makes them fun on the street. And you don't have to worry about wiping out at 100+ because you'd barely be able to hold on at those speeds, if you could get there.
I had a MZ 660 as my second motorcycle after a ninja 250 and it I LOVED IT.

the fact they're so tough to find should confirm their desirability. I'll keep checking for you.
im tryin to stay as close to home as possible so keep tht in mind. Cleveland (44143)
yeah these bikes must be hot haha.
saw one after class today--that didnt help any
is the suzuki bandit 600 the precursor to the SV650?
i found a few of em cheap. might be looking at one this weekend if possible.
they seem to get good reviews and all
Bandit is basically a Katana without the fairings and an upright riding position. It's powered by an inline four. Not mechanically related to an SV650, but they do both have the same idea of a sporty do-anything bike without too much bodywork.
Yes. Know what a Hooligan bike is? Take a sport bike, strip the plastic off and put on dirt bike bars. That's pretty much a Bandit. You can't go wrong.
Dan
Yes or no? I plan on checkin it out tomorrow? Comparible to???
Get it or no?
OR
Im thinking a 600cc will be best for a guy my size and weight. i just dont wanna grow out of a bike too quick

I may have said it before in this thread but I absolutely loved my VFR700, I may have to get another one someday.

Both the Bandit and the GS are decent deals, but only one of them spins to 14k. If that thing were within ride-home distance of Maine I'd go get it myself.
