You don't shoot for the moon, do you.
I would think something like a Honda NR750, Bimota Tesi, 1940's Indian, Vincent, Desmosedici or even a Honda RC-30 or 45 would be a dream bike.
I am not familiar with your dream bike, but a quick google pulls up this ad - http://sheffield.gumtree.com/sheffield/81/52667881.html
I'd wet my pants for one of the six cylinder Honda 50cc GP bikes like the late Mike Hailwood used to ride.

For reputation and significance, I'd say Duc 916 if I had to pick one.
But my list of 'must own' bikes is as long as my arm.
I still wants me a Norton. I had a chance to buy two 1975 850s at $1,200 each, one restored and one good original condtion (separate events a couple of years apart around 1988).
I've never ridden a sportbike, but after seeing that Faster documentary, a 500cc GP 2-stroke would be tops on my list... and no I don't think I'd survive more than 3-5min on it before crashing.

NOT FTW. Who has a $1500 bike as a ultimate dream bike?

Me. Get over it!

The question was, "The one, and only one, bike that you must own before you die?" I'd love to have a Vincent or Brough Superior or Bimota, but like most of us here I'll never be in the position to be able to actually buy one. The list gets a lot bigger when I think about bikes that I actually could afford to buy. For the record I'd like to have one of those GS400F Suzukis too, along with a first year GSX-R1000.
I guess you are right. I have had small inline 4's (FZR400) and I have had nekkid bikes. I did have a Ducati M750 that was probably the same performance class as the GS400.
Bandit 400?? Ok, just please get one that does not have a mismatched tail and spray canned case covers. Try the '93, the bronze wheels look better.
