OK now that Miata's are bringing more money then they should. I have a 1996 one owner Miata with 16K miles and 0 outstanding issues to sell. Never been hit or even left outside in the rain. White exterior all service history from factory still on title with the original owner who has asked me to sell it. Thing is still on its original brake pads and rotors. Owned by a engineer I work with who basically did everything by the book.

It has the popular equipment and leather options. Manual transmission.

Any idea's on value. I never see them this low in mileage and was thinking 12-14K.

My logic was to look up values on a 8 year old Miata with 16k miles.
I chose 8 years because the really big depreciation has happened by then and very traditional banks don't like to lend on cars this old. I figure here is where you might find the high end of your cross-shopper. You wont be price competing with people who lease or want "monthly payments" or require the "confidence" of an extended warranty.

So, I plug into Edmunds an '08 Miata Touring with no options since even the best equipped '96 Miata doesn't have that much in the way of current tech options. Factor in 16k miles and Outstanding condition and the price it gives me back is...

$12-14k Really.

Figuring this '96 Miata is 20 years old someone must have sold their NA Miata when their first kid was born and now with that kid leaving college they want one again.

Of course, you'll have to market this car as something special but I am confident you know how to get that done.

Refactor back to a 2005 LS for a well equipped last of the NB's with 16k miles in Outstanding condition and your looking at a value of $7.5 - 9.5k

That is where I was going to sell it originally but man they are serious E36 M3s to deal with.

That sounds like a great car compared to a lot of highly-molested NA's out there, so it seems like $12-14K is a good starting point and see what happens from there. It all depends on the time frame of the seller. If he's patient and can wait awhile, the older the car gets the more realistic that price will be. If he's in a hurry, like with anything else for sale, he'll take the best counter offer. I have a triple black '96 with 56k miles, no power anything, excellent shape, always garaged, and I've owned it since '99. I wouldn't let mine go for less than $10k. But it's not for sale.
