I saw a way cool car on vacation the other week up on the Leelanau peninsular. A mid 80’s W123 Turbo diesel……..coupe! I hadn’t seen a 2 door W123 for years so I went to look at it, nice bright red with those gorgeous allow wheels Mercedes used to use. It’s amazing how good 80’s cars look on 14 and 15” wheels, which are not only much cheaper than the current 17/18/19 but ride so much better. I was stunned when I saw it was a TD though, I had no idea they sold 2 door TD’s here, they weren’t even that common growing up in England as the overwhelming shift to oil burners hadn’t really got off the ground in the early 80’s. IT was just a gorgeous car, unfortunately the spousal unit was off somewhere else with the camera at that time so no pics.

They are indeed pretty cars. I prefer the W114 coupe myself. But hardtop Mercedes coupes are fun no matter the vintage.

In this particular car, I have always preferred the sedans.
