I've been seeing pictures all around the car blogs. I'm glad they finally got away from the Sebring architecture. The front fascia looks a little outdated, but I think it looks good overall. The interior doesn't look bad either and by the sounds of it, they are using premium materials too. I know there are a lot of Chrysler naysayers on here, but I think they're finally getting in the groove of things finally.
Its defiantly an improvement.
what fiat is it built on?

I think it looks great. I like the white on black interior.

I agree. Not a bad looking car.
Without searching for supporting data, appears to be based on the Dart platform?

Yeah, it's what they call CUSW, Comact, U.S. Wide. It's the Alfa Giulietta platform with some surgery to make it fit for the U.S. market.
I'm digging it. That interior looks great, 295 HP V6, AWD, best in class aero, etc. I would have liked them to dump the 200 moniker. I think the last generation was just so, Camry-like, so bland and boring that they kinda ruined it.
well.. they brought back the Dart Name.. what else could hey have used from the past?

One of the most annoying things on newer chryslers is the knob to put it in gear, just turn it to D and go!
Not sure why that's annoying... automatics are annoying in general... how the driving mode is selected is not all that important. I could just as easily turn a knob or push some buttons in my van vs. the funky dash-mounted selector lever.
'Fury' ... that would be a decent name... although that was a Plymouth model rather than Chrysler.
It does look better than the 200 I rode in last month. The current 200 just screams fleet car/ rental.

Nothing, that way morons aren't able to bitch about how Chrysler "ruined" a name like they did with the Charger and Dart.
Chrysler ruined the Charger by taking a car that was always a two door, even in K-car form, and giving it 4 doors. That, and we remember how awesome they dealt with it in the 99 Charger concept. Coronet, on the other hand was available in 2, 4, and wagon form. I'd have liked to see that name more.
Belvedere won't work because people think of this:
OK, I think of this.

The problem with that is nobody remembers the Coronet.
It's impossible to ruin a name that was already ruined once before simply because they threw it on a K car. And I loved getting into arguments with people who bitched about the Dart getting ruined because they put it on a compact, only to out that the Dart was a compact for the majority of its life.
As far as names go, there really aren't a whole hell of a lot of Chrysler only ones they could use. I don't think anyone would buy a new Newport, LeBaron or a Windsor.

Until a few years ago pretty much every Dart I'd seen was a beige slant six four door. No one seems to remember them.

In reply to Wally:
Just like every Charger was a 440 or Hemi car, nobody remembers the brown 318s with a berkeleyed up vinyl roof.
Stock base model to stock base model, the current gen Dart is vastly sportier than the original.
The folks who think they screwed up the Dart are confused.
The Dart was the economy car, eventually they crammed a big engine in it.
The Dart is still an economy car. It's just a nicer way to say Neon.
The WSJ just posted an article and this car won "Most Heartfelt Yawn".
I quote: The unveiled Chrysler 200 should be nicknamed The Shovel, because it is obliged to dig Chrysler out of a pretty deep hole in the midsize sedan segment. Honestly, the 200's forebears deserved nothing less than to be crushed at a monster truck rally.
This, the second-generation 200, is based on adapted front-engine, front-drive Alfa Romeo platform (the same platform serving under the Dodge Dart and Jeep Cherokee). With a choice of two thrifty engines (a 2.4-liter in-line four or 3.6-liter V6), paired with a 9-speed transmission unique in its chronograph-like mechanical density, the 200 offers up to 35 mpg on the highway. There is also an all-wheel drive option, with an electromechanical system able to decouple large parts of the drivetrain when it's not needed, to reduce parasitic losses and improve fuel economy.
But at a Detroit show when many cars enjoy a sin of excess, the 200 has the most underdrawn, neutered exterior this side of the Oscar statuette. Man, put some flames on this thing, quick.

Thank god for that last part. Most new cars look like ass because companies are going out of their way to look unique.
