I'm in a similar boat on just about all counts- it's a difficult line to walk at times.

Awesome work guys.

Sorry to hear y'all are getting some flak from your lover. No matter how it makes them feel about themself. Keep going don't let them deter you or add a piece of sugar of guilt to your diet. Ultimately, you'll be healthier and happier which will affect your entire life in a positive manner. They will come around and see that and every woman loves to see their man succeed. Rven if it makes them feel a bit insecure. For Ashyukun, keep it up and maybe try to talk about your progress as much to her. However she feels about her own progress may be getting triggered by your "bragging" (not saying you are but she could be feeling like you're throwing it in her face). Eventually, she'll come around because she loves you.

What not to do, is force them to try to make the same progress as you. This can male people think you're not happy with how they look now or that you're trying to look better for other people.

I have a buddy who i is pretty over weight and her bf has gained something like 150lbs in over a year. All he wants to do is stay home and lnly leave the house for food and work. Lately she's been working out and dieting. He constantly gives her E36 M3 and tries to keep her in the house. He says things like, "you're trying to get hot so you can leave me", "you're going to find another guy when you lose weight", "I bet you only go out to find a hot guy to replace me". He's extremely insecure and she's been trying to get him up out the house and is now trying to find counseling for him. She sometimes dont go to the gym because he makes her feel bad. She sometimes eats junk food because if she doesn't, he will guilt trip her. I feel bad for her and him, but she has to do what's right and that is not conceding to his insecurities.

I know how powerful your spouse feelings are to you. But, you want to be healthy and around for them, kids, and yourself.

For adding resistance training with no time for work. Just go on CL and find a weight bench they're CHEAP with weights and bars to go with. You don't have to lift super heavy just heavy enough to get a workout, though I encourage you to push yourself and do more than the you from a week ago!

If you don't have space for a weight set you cam use things you have around the house or garage. A good workout is lifting a tire or wheel in each hand and doing shoulder shrugs. You can take a brake rotor and use it to do weighed Russian twist. Sweep your driveway and side walk, it may nge clean anyway but it's a good little quick without, go in your bathroom and take your shower curtains of their rings, then hang them back up, then take them back off, then hang them back up. Take a piece of luggage and fill it with old clothes or shoes (30lbs will do), then take it up and down the stairs. Whenever you go upstairs carry it with you, same when you go downstairs. Do bear crawl races with your kids. Do jump squats, squat down then power out of it with a jump. Start with 15, then do 10, then 5. Everytime you eat a piece of candy or sugary treat do 50 pushups, you don't have to do it all at once if you can't but complete them within a reasonable amount of time. Every beer, do 2min wall squat. Between the hours of 7pm and 8pm, walk lunge everywhere you go inside the house.

Basically keep active, there's always a way to work yourself that wont take hours out of your day.

Goal: 180 lbs

To Go: 12.8 lbs

So, another very small and likely within the margin of error drop- but it's not a gain, either. Will be making more effort over the next few weeks (next week will be way easier since SWMBO will be visiting family for the week) to either get to the gym to do weights or get some resistance training in with things I have lying around.

I haven't updated in a couple weeks but I was 200.6 or something on the scale this morning (clothes on like normal).

I was under 200 with no clothes! I haven't seen 1 something in probably 7 years!

I use my kids. My 2.5 yo son sits on my back for push-ups, 30-35 lbs I think, and sometimes I'll pick him up and my 1 yo daughter to do squats.

They love it!

A step backwards for me this weekend, but not unexpected with a number of family events. 5k in 9 days. I expect to make my target weight for it... but will be pushing pretty hard.

My last post was on June 21st, and since then, got sick for a while and was unable to exercise. Been better since, but have had a hard time getting motivated, though I did start on the exercise bike this morning. I've been walking a lot, too, but that's just normal for me.

I've spent the last few weeks cutting way back on junk food, and eating healthier in general, including trying to have a salad a day. I think I've averaged about one soda a week

I think I'll update as I hit milestones (probably every 5 pounds or so), rather than on a time basis.

June 21st: 180

August 8: 175

I've got 10-15 lbs. to go before the challenge. If I can keep this up, it should not be a problem. More pressing is I have a trip to Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks coming up sooner, and I'd like to be in better shape for that. Not to mention, I could use some new clothing for the trip, but don't want to buy something if I'm going to continue to lose significant weight afterwards. I'd like to at least get down to a 36" waist before then.

I swear, I have got absolutely NO way to correlate what my weight is going to be at the beginning of the week when I weigh myself with how I ate or what I did the previous week. Take this week's weigh-in for example...

8/7/17 Weight: 190.8 lbs

Goal: 180 lbs

To Go: 10.8 lbs

Delta: 2 lbs lost

You'd THINK, "Oh, he ate really well last week and worked out properly," but you'd also be at least half wrong. While I did ride every day last week, I didn't end up getting much of any additional exercise (read: resistance/weights) in AND, especially over the weekend, I didn't eat well at all. Unfortunately I'm not thinking I'm going to do as well come next Monday- I pretty much can't ride this week since I have to run home over lunch to let the dog out, and it just takes too long to do it on bike. But then again, given how completely illogical my weight seems to have been perhaps I'll have dropped even more weight as a result...

Your thread got me motivated and I'm now down 25 lbs. Thanks. I hope to see you at the Challenge. We plan to bring a white Miata. I'm assuming we'll be the only two DMC-12 owners there. Mine has been parked for around 17 years. I really should look under that cover sometime. :)

That's great! Hopefully I won't have a white Buick Riviera (because I'll have had the time to paint it :P), though there's always a chance that I'll throw up my arms in disgust at it and do a parking lot build on something else.

I'd wager you're right that we'd be the only ones with a DMC-12, though honestly I didn't realize that there was someone else with one here on the forums as well! Mine has sat for most of the last 2 years and only made one foray out of my backyard to go to a local car show. Hopefully once the major work on my Challenge car is done that will change- but it will mean it likely spending another 2 years in the garage as I fix and improve way too much stuff on it.

Finished the 5K yesterday morning (I found out that it used to be a Wednesday event, but got moved to Tuesday). All 3 of my boys that decided to do it finished before me, but I finished in 50:43. They took about 40, 42, and 48 minutes. I mostly walked with what I thought was a pretty quick pace, and jogged on the downhill sections.

NOT. LAST. (Goal met!) Weight unknown. I think between 295-300 pounds (295 was the goal) - I'll give myself partial credit for that.

I think these milestones are important (for me at least) because it was REALLY tempting to get a Coke yesterday, but I was able to focus on the next one and convince myself not to.

Yeah, the temptation to grab a Dr. Pepper has been VERY tempting on many occasions. Thankfully these days if I can find Dr. Pepper I can usually find unsweetened tea and drink that instead.

8/14/17 Weight: 193.4 lbs

To Go: 13.4 lbs

I'm unfortunately wholly unsurprised that I lost ground last week- between not riding to and from work last week thanks to logistics issues and frankly eating horribly over the weekend once SWMBO got back home (in part due to our city's annual food festival being this weekend- though ironically we actually ate solidly LESS than past years because there were far less vendors this time). Am back to riding this week and should be eating far better (SWMBO is talking about trying to lose weight herself so that will help).

I lost some ground as well. Goal for this past Wed was 295 - I'm at 298 today. This past week was a church camp and I ate more than I should at campfire in the evening, etc. But I'll be back into my more regular routine tomorrow.

It sounds like you have a plan going forward and maybe your wife joining in with you will help. I know it's a strain on the relationship when you are both progressing at different rates and it may also mean some insecurities start coming out as well.

Next goal: 270 by the Challenge. 10 weeks, 28 pounds.

This is not a crazy unachievable milestone, but certainly not an easy one either. I need to decide what my next milestone(s) will be after?

I've gone up just a bit too. Way too many restaurant meals in the last 2 weeks.

But, I just did 41 push-ups in a row, which is huge for me.

At least a move in the right direction, but not as much as I'd have liked. SWMBO is trying to eat better herself now as well so that should help- and wants to try and make it more to the gym herself too, so hopefully the next 2 months will get steadily better.

Well, it was at least a drop, but nowhere near as much of one as I need to see to get to my goal by the Challenge. Kind of impressed it went down too given I didn't eat the best over the weekend.
