You guys need to go to the national eagle center in wabasha Minnesota. It’s fantastic. Eagles everywhere up and down the river.
Then go across the river to Stockholm Wisconsin to their pie company. It’s good

I sometimes wonder if we get spoiled here in Minnesota, bald eagles are pretty much a common sight along the upper Mississippi.
(oh, and there are some good places to eat pie, too. )
First time I saw a bald eagle was actually on Catalina Island. Birds of prey are fascinating creatures. Especially the big eagles.
I used to see bald eagles a lot when I lived in MN. One time I saw 6 at one time in my backyard - they were fishing in the Crow River.
I've only seen a bald eagle a couple times at my house in NC. The most recent time my dog saw it a few seconds after I did and barked it away. It was sitting in my neighbors live oak tree.

Did you check their passports? Are you sure they're American?
The American bald eagles in Canada must be Ill eagles. Up there without a passport !!! ( grin )

You’re right, there are many eagles along the Mississippi. So many that no doubt some find the fishing crowded and fly over to Lake Minnetonka.
I have a very large cottonwood tree right on the shore they love to fish from. Fishing in my bay is extremely good, filled with walleye and bass. Along with plenty of pan fish.
When I lived up North in CT on the Housatonic river we had Bald Eagles. I'd occasionally find people in the yard early in the day with cameras. Took everything I had in me not to stand on the deck and just for fun yell "GET OFFA MY LAWN!!!!!" to scare the crap out of them while they were trying to be stealth not scaring the birds and get a good pic of them (like the eagles don't notice them, ahahaha). Couldn't find a bird pic but this is the place.

We have the annual Bald Eagle festival starting next week. 35,000 of them will show up to eat dead spawning salmon. They are not really a novelty for us locals.
My three American bald eagles returned. Along with well over a hundred Loons, countlesss ducks a few sea gulls and a few flocks of Geese.
Looking at the bird population in my bay I’m assuming they are getting ready to fly south for the winter. Starting tomorrow a cold front is due in so I assume it will blow South assisting the flocks flying south. Some of the loon pairs seem to have recently hatched and I doubt they are big enough to fly yet!
Darn it, I can only get two of the eagles in one shot. But at least you can see some of the hundreds of loons.
If I try to get closer they all turn camera shy.
In reply to frenchyd : Today there were 5 Eagles. For the past 5 days the Eagles have been fishing from my tree.
A single Eagle is a spectacular site but today’s event with 5 in my tree shocked me! It’s like all 5 decided this area was fished out and peeled off one at a time. I had no idea there were 5 in that tree. They perch on the branches overhanging the lake and are pretty hard to see from my vantage point. Even if I see one land they blend in pretty well and you really have to search to see their backs
The first bald eagle I ever saw was in Vermont on the Connecticut River on the 4th of July when I was out fishing with my brother. It flew about 25 feet over our heads. It was amazing.
I'm glad to see them around. I was so sure as a youth in the 80s that we were going to loose these birds.
