I saw 42 today.
Well done.
I'll reserve most comment, because I'm a bit biased. Nearly 50 years in the Civil Rights Movement makes me a little opinionated.
Anyone else see it?

I want to see it. It looks really good.
I am going a completely different direction and watching Django tonight.

Movie about this guy.
42 is the newly released movie about Jackie Robinson (and Branch Rickey) breaking the color barrier in baseball in 1947 Brooklyn Dodger.
42 was his jersey number (the only number retired from all of baseball).
I love baseball, and have deep connections to the Civil Rights Movement, so it was a win for me.
A great deal of that was filmed here in Macon. I haven't seen it yet, but I know a lot of folks who were extras. They shut down sections of old downtown, remodeled to make it period, then paid to put it back the way they found it. They even covered a paved road in dirt for some of the scenes.

I was in New York one night in the early 90's and I turned a corner and walked onto the street set of A Bronx Tale. It was very cool.
So now we have the question! Crappy question to be the "Ultimate question of life, the universe and everything."
looked like it would be a good movie, good to hear it delivered.
I would have hated to be the scorekeeper last week when they decided that EVERYONE was going to wear 42 with no names on the jerseys. that was tough to keep track of.
Little known fact----
The breaking of the color barrier in pro baseball actually happened here in Daytona Beach. Jackie played his first inter-racial game at what was known as City Island Ball Park (now Jackie Robinson Field) during Spring Training.
Shame is, the "Jack" as we know it wasn't in the movie as it now looks "too new". They've done a great job with the park, and it is just too modern for the movie.
Going to Daytona Cubs games is one of the best things about living in Daytona. It's fun, cheap, and a great time for young and old.
