I haven't heard a motive yet, but some whack-job tried to run a man that was fishing down, and after missing him, plowed into a group of cyclists.

In reply to T.J.:
You ain't kidding. We just booted a crazy ass woman out of my wife's "investment" house. I've seen crazy.
The really alarming thing is how common crazy is. A friend of a friend on FB just posted one of those road rage videos where a person followed her off the highway, blocked her into a parking space and proceeded to physically attack her for "getting in front of her" on the highway. The nutjob then backed her pickup into the lady when she tried to get a picture of the license plate while she was driving off.
In reply to WilD:
Considering how many times we get to see road rage on TV, thanks to cameras all over the place, one would think that people would think twice about doing something crazy.
Alas, it seems as if people would rather see themselves on TV instead of not.

Things like that are exactly why I have the (knockoff) GoPro on my helmet when I ride the scooter around town- and I'll likely transfer it over to the bike's helmet when I can ride it again. I know people notice it- I've often seen people pointing it out to others in their cars- so hopefully they'll be a bit more wary of doing something stupid if they know there'd be video evidence of it that could be used against them.
I'm beginning to think that I need several cameras on all of my cars to record everything that happens around me in the event I cross paths with a nutjob.

This is an ideal use for a single 360deg-lens camera.
The sad part is that the truck driver will end up being supported by the state for a long time.
Not so much for the bike riders.
