This thought came to me via a strange thought process.
I was outside playing with my 22 month old little girl and the recently purchased wagon.
This got me thinking about maybe a Power Wheels car soon....
That got me thinking of a go cart after that...
Which got me thinking of her driving after that (they grow up quick)...
Which got me thinking of my '90 Miata which I rarely drive anymore (but will continue to keep)...
Which got me thinking I would drive more if it had a back seat so the family could go for ice cream...
Combine all this and my thoughts went to:
Maybe I should buy a 4 seat convertible now that my wife could use as a summer car (and family "ice cream run car") and then in 14 yrs from now that then 16 yr old car could be my little girls first car!
So, sticking with year 2014 (baby's birth year) or newer, what 4 seat convertible would you recommend?
Keep an eye toward something that is "iconic" so it will still be cool in 14 years from now.
That's got to be a Mustang or Camaro, no?
Yeah, iconic convertible 2014 or newer, all I can think of is pony cars. Mustang, Camaro, challenger.
Ahh, a Beetle convertible would be good too.

Yep, 'Stang, Crammit, Beetle, and Wrangler. Anything else is either 2 seats or generic.
Lexus IS250C.
Not the most thrilling but likeliest to still be running in 14 years.
Too bad this was only a concept, for a little while it seemed like they were going to build it for those who wanted convertibles...
Wouldn't a coupe be safer than a convertible though....I know the FR-S and BRZ use the Subaru reinforced 'cage' chassis design and is one of the safest sportscars you can buy...as long as you don't drive it off cliffs and expect to survive.
Lebaron with a 2.2L turbo swap.

Whatever it is, I hope you don't wreck it in 2029.

You're welcome!
Since most automakers agree that autonomous cars should be arriving by 2025 or so, you can rack up as many miles as you want, then buy a wrecked Tesla Model S off Copart and implant the drivetrain into the Q with upgraded programming. $2030 Challenge- the FIRST autonomous Challenger!

He'd have to hope the kids stayed that small until they could drive themselves. The rear seats are a bit snug.

Not MY 2014, but these will be (are already) pretty iconic, and they are CHEAP to buy now.
Oh, I forgot the MINI. That would also be an option.

Darn funny!
Also the equivalent of arriving to school in the short bus!
Buy a W123. It'll still be running in 14 years, and it's the perfect first car.
