So, I recently drove a TT RS. Great little car – perfect pedal placement, awesome shifter, great clutch takeup. Doesn't trump my personal favourite - the Cayman R, but it's pretty terrific in its own right. Its looks and cockpit reminded me of a little fighter plane... to which I compared it in my review, which also paid tribute to my late father, a many-decorated RAF ace in WW II. Sigh... of course I got hate mail from someone who thought it unseemly to suggest that a British pilot might appreciate a piece of fine German engineering. My dad loved cars, raced triumphs in England years ago. I think he would have thought this car was just fine.

If you listen/read many of the interviews of the pilots on both sides of the war, you'll realize that there was a lot of mutual respect amongst those involved. There was also a lot of animosity, but quite a bit of mutual respect. They were doing a job, what was needed to be done and they were trying to kill each side's young men, that doesn't mean you can't appreciate great design, engineering or fighting spirit, wherever it may be.

Having grown up around aviation and working aviation myself, I've found that there is a lot of mutual respect over technology in aviation.

What turboswede said is very true across the board.
