Is there a bracket bender in the house??
I'm looking for a starting point in designing a linkage for a hood. The hood on my TVR is one piece -- from the factory, it's a simple hinge and it just basically tilts the hood forward, dumping the nost onto the ground (think Jag XKE). I'm looking to build a hinge that is a 4 bar and moves the hood forward and "up" a little before tilting forward and coming to a stop.
Any help? Hotlinks??
Many thanks in advance.........
E30 BMWs and Classic Saab 900s were the same
how bout some of the hot rod billet hinges, some are advertised for their tilt forward design, lotta stuff to look through there tho
How about tilting the whole clamshell forward ala Jag?
1st gen honda prelude's used a 4 link hood hinge that pushed the hood up and away if i remember correctly.

image insert isn't working.
Thanks for all the help so far..........it's not quite what I'm looking for though
Was looking for a bracket bending engineer that might be in our midst. Every single one of these options lifts the hood up (yay!) but then it drops the leading edge down (boo!). I don't think I've ever seen an OEM part that does what I need. I need the whole assembly to lift up a few inches and then as the hood is tilting forward it needs to move forward/away from the chassis.....
Kinda like this.
I think I'll use this pic and some legos to model what I need, then build it to scale.......came up with the lego idea on my morning bike ride/workout!
SAAB 96's and others had a simple single arm that did the same thing.
