The only cop show worth watching is COPS. And even that is sanitized a little.

Ah, the original reality TV show.

By the way, I'm still mourning the loss of Law & Order. L&O L.A.? Bah. Lennie Briscoe's corpse is going to come for blood--and a piece of pizza.

By the way, I must be totally out of touch--no idea Hawaii 5-0 was coming back. I have to admit that the thought of that show always reminds me of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjtRL2Omz6w

COPS ought to be taken off the air and every episode burned. It makes the real Cops think it's cool to be abusive.

By that logic, the show also encourages fat white guys to take their shirts off when they get drunk.

You are both correct

Trailer folk remember the lessons taught by a young Pam Grier, who in the early 70s' film Coffy, proved that removing one's shirt is a highly effective means of gaining tactical advantage in violent conflicts.

Are we watching the same show? Look closer; most of those people are asking for it. High speed chase through a schoolyard full of kids? Yeah, your neck's probably gonna get stepped on when they haul you out of your wrecked hooptie.

My Wife and I both enjoyed the new 5-0. I'm a big fan of both of the Caan's. We thought the main characters had good "chemistry", and the writing didn't suck.

They'd need to time-travel back to get the '80s-era Selleck, so he'd still look good in those shorts. And then they'd need to make sure they got the shorts, too. Margie

I know nothing about either the original or the new show. All I do know is that one of my favorite bands Radio Birdman wrote a song about the original so they must have liked it.

I wonder how the original series was received. I enjoyed it because of it's patina.

The new 5-O? Too early to tell, but the pilot didn't really leave me salivating for more...

The original series aired for over decade; it was well-received.

Can't say I'd expect the new version to earn the same patina, however.

It was OK, I won't go out of my way to watch it, but I use to live in hawaii and they showed my apartment building like 7 times.

I catch it on Hulu or the CBS website.

I saw the pilot...it was more melodramatic than a cop show warrants (how many cops actually break up human smuggling rings or chase terrorists?) but it was entertaining. Pretty, too....I would not be surprised if some Hawaiian travel companies buy advertising on the show.

The big negative: I had that stupid song stuck in my head through a big chunk of today....

Funny, I told my wife last night that the show looked a whole lot more like Miami Vice set in Hawaii than it did Five-O...

A young Pam Grier had a bit more working in her favor than most shinny white guys in wife beaters Coffy trailer</a

I didn't think the show was bad. There is a lot of crap on TV today and this one I would enjoy every week.

Ok, Honestly, GM took over the show. The premiere had Danno in a new Mustang GT and showed the old '68 Mercury. Now, McGarrett drive a 2010 Camaro SS and Kano drives a Chevy Cruze. All the police cars have magically gone from Crown Vics to Impalas.

This just goes with the rest of the CBS primetime shows that have all GM vehicles.

I wonder if they will give everyone in Detroit a new car until they cancel Detroit 1-8-7, I imagine it would be cheaper than the commercial ads during the superbowl ;)

Noticed that, too!

Also noticed all the seemingly random up/down shifts in the soundtrack; it did NOT sound like a performance car.

I like the Cruze but product-placement is getting way out of control.

Episode 2 in the books. Still not sure if I like it overall, but is is entertaining. However, product placement is ridiculously blatant and annoying and might be grounds enough to make me not bother watching first runs of this show.
