Discussion: ways to fight canoes

I've created a thread for canoe notification. If you see something that needs deleting, post it there. We'll monitor that thread, and kill any spam that you report there. After we delete the spam, we'll delete your post about it. This will make it easy for you to see if your reported spam has been dealt with. It will allow you to bump the thread so as to gently chide/nag us if we miss somethingt.

The use of that thread, along with our recent deputizing of a few more canoe-hunters, might let us keep the spammers in check.

Put a sticky on the thread so it stays up top. Where can I find the thread number?

Okay, just answered my own question regarding the thread number.

In the url shown in the address bar at the top of the browser. This one's 66678

Then we were told to shout "canoe".

Then, we were told to PM, or email.

Now we have a thread.

No further comment.

Seems to me they'd all go away pretty fast if we stopped replying to them.

IanF, Stanger_Missile, and carguy123 just reported some to that thread and the two canoe-users responsible are gone (along with their posts.) Thanks, guys.

Yeah, I underthought and overposted. Meanwhile, three more canoes dropped while we're all sitting here talking about it. Jeez.

EDIT: Also, why do we bother collapsing the threads? Why don't we just off them?

I apologize, but I thought it should be known that we give these scumbags too much credit by calling them an armada.
And Thank you in your continued efforts to weed out the canoes, this place will always be worth sifting through the BS threads, but you guys make it better anyway

Last night I found three canoes and alerted the authorities through proper channels. This morning I found the canoes sunk but all vestiges of my unselfish courageousness in saving the world from tyranny vanished along with the canoes.

What if we came up with a system whereby we get credit for the sinking? Just like fighter pilots, we get little "kill" symbols (the international symbol for "no canoes" perhaps) after our dork status on the gray bar above our posts. The biggest canoe "ace" gets a one-year subscription or some free shwag from your cluttered desktops. Just a little token of esteem for our incredible bravery and courage under fire.

Hey, it could be fun. It could make being up at 1:00 am PDT worthwhile.
