They certainly didn't use Ford P71 badging on a Chevy...
there is nothing in any of those pics to indicate that it was anything special beyond being a detective car. i forget what that code was, but i don't think it was 9C1, and they were a little more plush than a patrol car that had a real back seat and no spot lights, but had all the other suspension, electircal, and cooling goodies- as well as the higher speed fuel cutoff- as a regular 9C1.
that "POLICE INTERCEPTOR" decal is a factory ford P71 part that you may have seen on the trunk lid of every P71 you've ever seen that a lot of Caprice 9C1 people like to put on their cars for some reason..
At least this guy's putting some effort into selling a stolen car
If you had the money; a Marauder looks better.....

For $16k, I could be a 1969 McGarrett wannabe.
If i cared, I would write the seller and ask more about the the govt locating software he claims to have.

It must be the steering wheel cover.... I wonder if it's owned by the same guys that make the ultra rare dragon wheel cover.
Hey, that is rare, a '94 Caprice built in July '84...
God, what an annoying ad. Super secret with P71 interceptor badges and typical cop steelies...
yup... that will help "presidents to governors and diplomats that need under cover cars to blend into traffic for emergency purposes of skeptical vehicles in or around the motorcade"

i'll take a 94 9C1 Caprice over an '04 Marauder any day of the week.. i have a sales brochure for the Marauder when they were in the showrooms, and the benchmark car Mercury compared their Cobra powered 4 door beast to in their own brochure was the 96 Impala SS- a car that had ended production 8 years earlier- and the only thing they could point to that made it better was the higher HP rating.. i got that sales brochure sometime in the winter of 04/05 when a salesman was trying to get me to buy a brand new black '03 Marauder that only had about 50 miles on it.. he said it could be mine for $17k out the door because they just wanted the thing gone. it had apparently been sitting in the showroom for almost 2 years and no one had asked for a test drive or really shown any interest in it. i told him that i'd think about it if he could show me how the car was a big enough improvement over the paid for 94 Caprice 9C1 that i had driven onto their lot to warrant the payment and insurance.. he couldn't, and i passed on almost 50% off the sticker price of a brand new limited edition car that was 2 years old.. maybe someday they will actually be worth something and i'll kick myself for not getting it, but i doubt it.
I want to get one of those "Police Interceptor" decals for my Fiesta.

I.. uh... sent the seller a question....
A '94 that was manufactured 7/84 and put into service in 85
Oh geez, it has the green 'Kryptonite' hoses used ONLY on the wiped records cars.
The listing says 'health reasons force sale'. I'm thinking mental health reasons...

I'd assume you know I'm kidding, but it seems my internet jest-fu has been off lately...

huh.. that means that my 94 was a super duper top secret car, too, since it had all the factory installed green silicone hoses on it. i think my 92 had them, too. my 94 was a CHP car- i know that because the "property of California Highway Patrol" sticker was in the door jam- that had apparently had Impala SS springs in it because it sat a good 3" lower than the 92 9C1 that i had at the same time, and it had KYB shocks that looked to be installed a long, long time before i got the car from the used car lot of a junkyard in 2001. i'm sure all that stuff means that i took the engine out of a rare top secret gubbermint car and sent the body off to a nice guy that put it in a demo derby with a carbed 305 in it...

I would have taken that deal if the means were there......for the simple fact that car is still worth money.
As a long-time B-body owner and lover, let's pick this apart:
From the top down...
The hood ornament would have been a top priority for secret feds (note the sarcasm). The luxury burgundy cloth and woodgrain interior would have also been critical for their work.
The Police Interceptor badges are obviously 9C1 parts glued on to the fenders.... and very poorly re-painted fenders at that.
There were three different suspension packages on the B-body in those years; the standard, the 9C1, and the Impala SS. The main difference was ride height/springs and ball joints. This car is clearly a civilian caprice given the space between the tires and the fenders.
Then the description starts with "Don't go by the VIN." I trust this guy.
Then we have the 35 gallon fuel tank, the 1984 engine, the "extreme power," and a claimed top speed in the 150's. Maybe we could overlook the "heavy duty" transmission and the requirement for "high octane," but how can we argue with a drive type that is listed as "VERY."
I'm sold. I wrote the guy a check.
Oh my.....
I just clicked the Auto Check link and it says that the car was reported as being "Polise Use."
I'm about to vomit.
