Not a huge surprise, but this still hurts.
I can't imagine that I've watched more episodes of any other show in my lifetime than Jeopardy. He was great at what he did and I will miss him.
Ken Jennings is the only possible replacement, and I think he's in the perfect position to take fill that role.
The game show host's host. I remember the grace he had, even while being trolled.
Well, berk. He genuinely seemed like a good dude. Not a surprise, but also not exactly welcome news.

Sorry, you didn't phrase that in the form of a question.
He's going to find out Sean Connery has been doing his mom.
"I will take The Rapist for 500 Alex"
"...that's Therapist..."
I just introduced my wife to the Turd Ferguson SNL sketch like three days ago. RIP Mr. Trebek, I spent many evenings watching Jeopardy with my parents as a kid.
I'd like to see Jon Stewart get a shot at the gig. People don't realize the reoccurrence rate with pan can. You need to religiously get blood work and some additional testing done every two weeks. If you become complacent, it will kill you. It's exhausting. You spend a good amount of your time, even between reinsurances, questioning the quality of your life versus the quantity. The earlier you catch the reoccurrences, the easier they are to snuff out and less invasive the treatment options, but it's exhausting and you're never comfortable or able to fully be at ease. There's allows anxiety about the next round. You're told and reassured that "you've got this" and that you've beat it before, but everytime that you have to resume the fight, you're more exhausted than the previous go rounds. Your body is more tired and wary than the previous times, even if you've had two years off between treatment. Your treatment options can be more restricted. Your career is once against paused, or worse. Your finances stressed, your relationships with family and friends are stressed.
when someone is liberated from the grips of this disease, it's bittersweet, is their painful journey and, if it's not their first dance, their long drawn out battle, is over. But it still berkeleying sucks.
I think John Stewart is one of those rare people who decided to "get out" and actually do it. He certainly will likely appear for thing he truly believes in, but I find it highly unlikely he would have any interest in a regular show.
I would expect someone more along the lines of a previous winner would be a host. Or, maybe, let it be Alex's thing, and just let it go. I suspect there is money involved that won't let that happen though.
I don't pay attention to it, but have there ever been guest hosts?

Over the last few months, they seem to have been hinting at Ken Jennings taking over as host, which is the most obvious choice.
RIP, Alex. As a long-time trivia nerd, you were one of my heroes as a kid.
As for Jon Stewart, he has a new show coming on Apple TV.
What is... the pearly gates.

Dude was a class act. This year sucks.
Pancreatic cancer has a well-deserved reputation as a death sentence - my wife and I are both fans of the show, and we were a bit surprised that he appeared to be doing so well on the show. Apparently this was more because he was just doing a very good job of hiding how he was doing. He was a great host and it sounds like he was as kind off camera as he was on camera.
They showed an unscheduled 20/20 episode last night about him. I am guessing they will re-show it for the next 20/20? Or maybe actually put it on the schedule.
RIP. He was an icon of evening TV.
You noticed Connery and Trebek died within a few days of each other. A hope they are going at it.
Reports are his last day was spent on a swing at his house, with his wife, just looking at the horizon. Not a bad way to go in my opinion.
I wonder what happened. Both Trebek and Harry Reid were in a phase I immunotherapy trial and supposedly had complete remissions, which is pretty much a miracle when it's pancreatic cancer. Maybe not.
