@93EXCivic, I have a Van though, for most daily driving. The Celica is just a nice-day daily driver that i want to be fine on the road and good on the track.

First off, thank you for taking the time to write so much for my benefit. I appreciate it a lot.
I would rather have a car that's looks are 'great' (in my own personal opinion) and track capability are 'good' (by open standards) than a car i don't like the look of but can tear ass all over the track. My body kit is very sturdy. Aside from the side skirts which i mentioned i'm reverting back to stock Action Package ones. I have the Lotus Exige spark plug cover and the hole in the hood is pretty far back in the scoop- i've driven in pouring rain and never had a problem. The only problem i have is there is another scoop in that hood which you can't see in the pic which is right above the air intake. So that kind of sucks sometimes. But i have my van for bad roads or weather.
Your wheel idea is pretty good, and others have said it as well. So i think maybe i'll just have a street set which may be 17 or 18s, and a track set which may be 15 or 16s w/ R-compound.
I have been in MN for 14 years and there's a Fleet Farm in Brooklyn Park off of 169 and 85th. That's where i work. It's not far-- just two roads away from me.
I plan to work at it and i thank you very much for your time and advice. You guys are great teachers and much more patient than past forums.

For the record... i WHOLEHEARTEDLY approve of a 7th gen GTS track car. They're amazing cars in their own right, and i'm extremely jealous of the fact that you have one. The car will be a RIOT, and FAST when it gets out on the track and you get some experience under your belt. You've made a great choice in car, it just may not be the right time just yet to put it on the track.
Thank you for clarifying, because your previous post was really bringin' me down. If i smash my baby into a wall (after the funeral) i'll still have my Safari.
But you guys have shown me that paying that little bit left on the car should be my first priority and that's what i'm going to work towards.

Mm. Criticism. Far out.
Constructive criticism. Take it wisely.
Not intended as criticism at all. More like sharing wisdom.

I had no idea there was one out there. Shows I don't get to the north metro much (I'm in IGH and work in Edina). Glad to know you're thinking, and are at least committed to what you want. If you want the looks, then by all means. Just givin' ya options, because I'm very form related. As far as autox- I actually know several people that I am friends with via a local Mazda site that do it several times a year, and I know for a FACT that there's GRM heads that are there too (I got my last GRM sticker at an autox event back in April, and I was in novice school and caught one of the teachers reading a GRM on break lol). It's a pretty nice crowd, and there's a lot of people willing to help. I know it's not road racing, but it's a helluva lot of fun. I thought i'd get all crossed up at the cones too, but when it came time, I didn't DNF once. Hogged down more than my fair share of cones, but got times every run. If I can do it, anyone can.

And going with the Action Package again (minus the action package side skirts, i HATE those things), will make it look AWESOME. I loved the AP bumper, looked great on those cars.
Action Package + some wide 15s or 16s = WIN.
I wouldn't want to bring you down, though... you're not the only FWD Celica owner in this thread. I still have mine.

That sounds awesome! Now you've gone and got me excited.

I'm sorry i just hate the look of stock celica bodies. That's why one of the first things i did was change the kit. Because i was less happy with it's looks than i was with it's performance.

That's what we're here for.
Just a couple of things- to some degree, you should just do what you want. I remember painting the trim black on my Mercury Lynx. My dad thought it was a bad idea. But I actually did a good job and it ended up looking nice. Even Dad came around in the end. Point is, he gave me good advice- most kids would have made it look junky.
Having said that, listen to folks with more experience - I mean really listen to them. Then decide what is right for you. Case in point- several people have mentioned autocross. I agree that it would be a good idea to spend some time autocrossing. Who knows, you might end up loving it and find that you really want to build for an autocross class. I think there's a Celica like that doing okay in ST. Not sure if there's a better class for the car or not. But if you were building for a class, it would be a lot more clear what you want to do.
But at the end of the day, that's just another way of saying figure out what you want to end up with before you start doing things. Have a final vision of the car in your head so you know what you're building. Otherwise it will be a never-ending string of parts and changes and you'll likely end up with something that does many things okay, but doesn't do anything really well.
But, I could be Dad telling you not to paint your trim black.
