So, are there just two of us Michigan GRM'ers going to The Redford Theater to see American Graffiti Saturday? I'll be sitting on the balcony with my family, and I'm sure I'll be at the snack stand during intermission. I'll wear my GRM shirt.

Cool I havn't seen that movie in a long time. I remember getting to sit in both the Ford coupe and the '55 Chevy at a car show in Portland years ago. The blonde was there too. She had not aged as well as the cars.

I've actually never seen the movie. Is it a 'family friendly' movie? My wife is worried about make-out scenes with our littles ones watching.

It is definitely not Fast Times a Ridgemont High! A very tame movie by modern standards. I am not sure if there is even any kissing at all in the movie (not really what the movie is about) and only mild violence from what I remember (I re-watched it about a year ago).

The only warning I would say is that it is a pretty slow movie by todays standards. Do not expect action and explosions every 30 seconds. Think of it more as a "night in the life" of a group of people and a city.

There is at least one kiss scene (at the end), I don't remember if there are any others. Alcohol and shenanigans though.

And zomg to never having seen it before. Must-see for any car enthusiast, IMO.

Some people smoke, there's a few mild swear words and there's a brief glimpse of Candy Clark's granny underwear, but that's about it.

Wow! You've never seen American Grafitti?

You are in for a treat! It's a great movie, with a heavy dose of nostalgia.

I still have a crush on Susane Summers in that T-Bird

I bought the DVD a few years ago and watch it in the winter when you are missing summer. A lot of big names in it. I still want a 1955 Chevrolet with a roll bar. And a white cowboy hat.

Quite PG. I've seen bits in modern Disney movies that push the limits farther...

American Grafitti Part II is quite a bit darker, and not as well loved. It's not a bad movie, but being a lot darker than the first movie, it doesn't have anywhere near the same feel. The non-linear story-telling style (think: Pulp Fiction) is also off-putting if you're not ready for it.

Here's one family-oriented REVIEW

It's one of my stop-and-watch movies.

My parents went to see it whehn it came out, and dragged me along. I was 11 and loved it. I met Wolfman Jack a few years later at a car show (a big deal to a 13 year old), and patterned my own 55 chev after the one in the movie. I still watch it if it's on TV.
