Ben Affleck, for the bat vs supes, and eventually justice league.
That is all.
I know the superhero geeks have their tights all in a bunch over this. I don't care. He'll do a fine job.
I have precisely zero problems with this. Affleck gets a bad rap based on a few duds, but the guy has talent, as well as knowledge of and respect for the material. Getting Batman right is just as much the job of the director and writer, too. I would have loved to see what Val Kilmer or George Clooney could have done with the character had it been given the proper respect and the franchise not turned into so much douchery.
Actually, I want to see Ben play Batman/Wayne in full-on Bahstahn mode. Move Wayne Manor to Charlestown. Put a Red Sox logo on the suit, and have Bahtmahn declare "I've gaht a wicked hahd ahn for crime."
jg
I think I'm mostly curious if this is part of another giant style-changeup for the franchise...
Is it just a new actor, or also new director, producer, ???
It's kinda funny that Adam West, Michael Keaton, Christian Bale et al were nominally playing the same character or even in the same world...

Fahk you supamahn
My inner geek is happy that there is a new Batman movie coming out leading into Justice League...Yet saddened Afflek was the best that they could get.
Wasn't his last superhero movie absolutely horrible? Yea, it was. I won't hold my breath on this one. He's not a bad actor but I have a hard time not imagining him as the proprietor of fashionable male.
So, let me get this straight...
The fanboys are concerned that Ben Affleck is a bad choice and may ruin a story about a billionaire who dresses up as a bat to fight a gang of evil clowns.
Is that about right?
That's a goddamned shame. Not because I hate the guy, but I can't, for the life of me, picture him as batman. I thought Bale was the E36 M3. Trying to come up with a better batman, but I don't watch a lot of current movies.
I think Alexander Scarsgard (Eric Nothman) would berkeleying slay it.
Considering the rather monotone portrayal of Batman that has been done recently, he is not that bad of a choice.
If you want to see a movie he is good in, see The Town.
Of course, there are also some other good actors in it.
It is entirely possible batman will have to live in Boston though (the town is set in Boston)
I could see Gotham based on Boston, we are already operating on the assumption of Metropolis is NYC.
Ryan Reynolds needs to be the Joker, that is all. If Heath Ledger can do that well with the character, imagine how well Ryan can do- dude's got the chops for it.

Its kinda a mix of NYC and Chicago......but yes, Gotham is fictionally supposed to be NYC.

I take it you didn't see the Green Lantern. Some people just need to stay away from the comic book movies. I also have taken note that none of you are fans of the Mallrats movie.
Trans_Maro YES we are!
Rebelgtp - the same could be said for Ironman. Tony Stark is the same gotdang thing.

I've seen the Green Lantern- I wasn't impressed. But much like the smarm that Heath did before the Joker, Ryan's gotta pay his dues. I'm actually interested to see his turn as Deadpool when that materializes.
Also- HUGE fan of the Mallrats movie. Was filmed 20min from my current location, though you'd not notice it due to the extensive remodel of that mall. Still don't like Affleck.
Heath Ledger was a really gifted actor. Didn't realize until I saw "Brokeback Mountain".
I'm not a big fan of Affleck, but I'm sure he'll do a great job. And while Bale's Batman was somewhat irritating (seriously, what the hell was with that stupid voice every time he was in costume?) holy hell was he fantastic in "The Fighter". More range than his role as Batman ever suggested.
