Ok, I've posted on a couple other threads plans my girlfriend and I have talked about. She just said the coolest thing. She said in a couple years we can buy a modest house and then spend the rest of our money on cars. Her wish list includes '69 Camaro SS in high gloss black, a CJ-7 in burnt orange with a winch and a lightbar. She's also is ok with us having a piece of land big enough to host a rally-x event. And she is giggling up a storm as I write this.

You, my friend, are a truly blessed man. The reast of us, uhh,not so fortunate.
She did just add that the number of dead projects shall be limited. I'll have to keep the parts cars out of view.
in the words of the famous Douglas Fargo, (if you don't know who he is, you don't watch enough oddball shows on SyFy/SciFi channel) "Small price to pay for awesomeness!"
Unless she tells you can blow the house money on a Yenko, I'm not jealous.
yup
they all say that kinda crazy talk when they are in the "gf" stage..
just wait.

My wife (in GF stage - 1983-1986) used to pack us a nice lunch and spend the day with me at Road America - 2-3 events a summer.
I asked her this year if she wanted to go to the Vintage Races at Road America with the daughter and I: "Why would I want to do that?"

Are you sure it's not an Evil Genius "I got him now" laugh???
My girlfriend told me the other day that I can't have a first gen Mustang. Though she does have a good reason, her brother was in a really bad wreck in one and is no longer with us so it would bring back bad memories.
Thing is she likes those Mustangs as well and wanted one before the accident.
She did say I can have a first gen Camaro though or any other car just about.
So have you proposed yet? If she retains just a small trace of that attitude after marriage, you're golden!

Well we've been together for 8 years now, so she's got me. The giggling was more amusement that I started to post the comment as soon as she said it. She is supportive of my obsession with cars mostly she just smiles, nods, and pats me on the head. Now though she is taking a bit more of an interest. Last night she also said she might like to go an autocross with me.
I have not formally proposed yet no, but we both agree it is a given it will happen. We're pretty much waiting at least until she finishes her degree, which will be next May, and maybe wait until I finish mine, which won't be for a couple years. Then comes the marriage and house. So, it'll be a bit yet before I can really get any projects going. As for the Camaro think the movie Better Off Dead. She fell in love with that car 20 years ago.

Yah, the flip side of that is the guys who are really into a "car girl" ... but in reality they're patronizing, think it's cute. It's not cute anymore when you're always off driving new cars, or you've got something new and cool and hordes of guys want to talk to you. (Sorry, but crowds of women just don't come up to ask you about new cars).

I think about the best situation is a girlfriend who has a decent understanding and moderate interest in cars and motorsports, but isn't really into them, and doesn't feel compelled to go to every event you do.
At least in my situation, that means I get support for my hobby and don't get pestered about it (although she admits she's concerned about me doing track driving without health insurance). It gets to be a thing that's mine, and I don't have to get dragged along on things that are hers. But she'll show up to events and drive occasionally.

My husband and I have the similar plans for our next move. A modest house in the country with enough land for a large morton building for the toys and our own rallyx track to play on.
I was going to the range to go shooting today, and my wife, Jamie, said I should pick up an over and under shotgun while I was there... I didn't, but it's good to know she wants one.

That's another thing. Kat has recently expressed an interest in learning to shoot.
Well, my girlfriend...
Has raced in the Baja 1000, Pikes Peak Hillclimb, gone 200+mph at the Texas Mile, holds a Land Speed Record with the SCTA from Bonneville Speed Week on a supercharged 1948 Triumph motorcycle, has raced stage rally, holds SCCA Solo Nationals trophies (including GS and BMod open classes), built her own Rally-Moto bike, is currently building a Subaru rally car, has a bad-to-the-bone STU prepped '05 STI (now for sale) and drove in LeMons. Did I mention that she used to work with her dad when he was a gun dealer...
Recent photo that closed a two-page writeup on her in the local paper, the Austin-American Statesman.

My wife isn't exactly like me, which is a good thing. Sure, she can fart and belch as good as an man, but when it comes to cars, she let's me do my thing (if we can afford it). I married a girl who is pretty much like me; I don't need another one of me in the house.
Ok my thread title may have been misleading I didn't mean to imply my girlfriend was THE coolest, just she falls into the category of cool ones. Yeah car geek wise Modernbeat wins. Kat has let me do my car thing for years. She now is getting interested enough to go and see what it's about. She has her thing too, and while I find belly dancing interest to watch sometimes, I don't plan on picking it up anytime soon.
If you arrange the dead projects/parts cars correctly, they can double as an observed trials course.
