Another earthquake, 7.1 this time hit Japan. Aftershock has been happening but this one was for real. They had a tsunami and earthquake warning all today until it happened at around 10:32am ET. Supposedly cut some more power off and at the nuclear plants.

Poor Japan =[

When I was in the Navy, we deployed to 3 different parts of Japan over 5 years, the second time was north of the area worst hit by the "original" 'quake. While there, we experienced 2 or 3 'quakes in a space of 5 months, there may have been more, just didn't feel them. Californians have long ago gotten used to 'quakes, so the Japanese are way ahead of them. It sucks, but thems the breaks.

The problem is there are too many of them for the island. All the weight of the humanity, the buildings and the cars is pushing the island down and quakes result. It's kinda like stuff sitting on a keyboard type of button.

I'm thinking that if they'd ship all that good JDM stuff over here quickly for free (you don't want the extra weight of all that money do you?) it would let the button pop back up.

Problem solved for everybody.

Seriously, this situation will affect a lot of us in unexpected ways. Japan produces a LOT of stuff that is then built in China. With CCTV cameras, most of the good ones use Sony CCD chips. That factory is flattened. So, cameras will be in short supply and be more expensive. I'm sure we will see more of this in other areas.

Japan is used to this kind of thing. they are an island nation in one of the most geologically active regions on earth- and they've been there for thousands of years.

Yeah, they know how to build buildings that withstand this kind of thing and all of that it's just that, these 2 earthquakes are a big blow to Japan!
