By Joseph T. Webb (Streamwood, IL USA) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)

This review is from: AutoExec - WM-01 - Wheelmate Steering Wheel Desk Tray - Gray - Driving has always been difficult for me. Almost as difficult as being born with no legs. My condition is called a "sporadic birth defect" and it has prevented me from walking, dancing, reaching paper towels in bathrooms, playing kickball (among other sports), and until now, driving. Thanks to the almighty God and, second, to the people at AutoExec for giving me the Wheelmate Steering Wheel Desk Tray. Prior to this, I had the misfortune of being propped up on stacks of Yellow Pages to see over the steering wheel. (I have a bastard of a contraption that lets me hit the gas pedal and brakes while steering - SOOO Cool). However, in this internet age, Yellow Pages have gotten smaller and thinner and I look like a midget inside the car, once again desperately trying to see over the steering wheel. Let it be known I am NO midget and refuse to be considered one. They are freaks.

The Wheelmate Desk Tray lets me perch my torso on top of it so I finally have a clear field of vision over the steering wheel. I'm so lucky to have found this. It makes all the bullying and awkward glances throughout my life SO WORTH IT. (It's even better than prosthetics - not for my legs, but the prosthetic I have for my arm since I had to have it removed after a nasty Boogie Board accident.) Simply put, the Wheelmate Desk Tray has been a blessing. A God-send since installing it in my Hyundai Elantra. That's right. I OWN an Elantra. That's how I roll. But not that I roll around in a wheelchair like some freak... I knuckle walk like a real man. well, how a real man without legs would knuckle walk. Anyway, back on task, the Wheelmate Desk Tray also has allowed me to remove the plastic covering from my driver's side seat. (Being born with a sporadic birth defect also means I have severe bowel incontinence and have no control over my fecal movements so I've dirtied my driver's seat on countless occasions. No longer. I simply tape a Pamper to the Desk Tray (pimpin'!) and I can rock out in my Hyundai at my heart's delight...which is a lot of rocking out considering I have an enlarged heart and not much time left to live. Thanks, AutoExec! You made my day.

My neck thanks you AutoExec! My breasts are very cumbersome, and causes some neck and back pain, especially after being on my feet all night at work. As a professional dancer, it is important I feel my best. And now, on my way home to my trailer out in the woods, I get much needed relief with the Wheelmate Steering Wheel Desk Tray! (can you make them in hot pink?)

I thought this was a joke. It's not. The user reviews are a riot. I'd love to be their liability attorney on this one..the billable hours....I NEVER, EVER want to see one of these in a car.

Apparently some haven't figured out this thing is not for use while you're driving. There are a lot of people who work out of their car and and need a flat surface to write on while they are sitting in one place - contractors, salesman and so forth.

Yeah, but you just KNOW....

I'm laughing at the pic. Apparently you can't use it with the steering wheel in it's straight ahead position.

I can see where this would come in handy. I used to spend all day working in my truck and always had to prop my clipboard up awkwardly onto the steering wheel to take notes. It was slightly uncomfortable on my wrists.

I thought about it, and most steering wheels will have something interfering on the bottom of the wheel. not all though, it would work well on my old Camaro's steering wheel that had only 2 spokes on either side. wouldn't work on the 240sx, or my caravans.
