Jeez... when will these endoscope threads finally stop?!?
Oh... there aren't any? Ok. I'll make one.
Looking for an endoscope for all kinds of things: internal engine inspection, looking inside my A/C ducts, finding things in walls before I drill into a wire or a water pipe (or both at the same time), inspecting bores of firearms, checking sewer lines, etc. I have an old one that is about 480p at maybe 10fps, the camera is big enough that it doesn't fit into many spark plug holes, and it's generally awful.
Looking for:
- 5.5mm or smaller diameter
- waterproof
- flexible/semi-rigid cable
- 1080p
- either wifi or USB so I can connect to Android
- 30fps or better
- Budget under $100.
Anyone have a good wifi or USB endoscope/borescope that they like and would recommend?
For reference, I found this one and a few hundred like it, but the reviews are terrible.
A buddy bought me a cal van scope cam for $80... works with the Bluetooth on your phone. I have yet to use it but looks decent for the price I paid...

I have the same one in either 1 or 2 meter length. It was cheap and works well enough. It'd be nice if it had an articulating head, but those are serious money.
A 33' snake? You could do colonoscopies on the side.

I have a $25 Amazon one I plug into a laptop. Camera is fine. The light could be brighter, but it gets the job done. I can't see spending massive money on these as cheap as you can get them. But, if I had it to buy again I would get one with an attached hand-held screen instead of using the laptop. Sometimes there just isn't a good place to put it for viewing.
If you get one with its own screen, can you capture video? I have used mine before to show a video of the inside of an engine I'm selling or buying and it's nice to have it captured as a video.
The problem I'm seeing with most of the cheap ones is that the video is awful. It might have the pixel population on the CMOS to support 1080p, but the super slow framerate and optics make it look like I'm watching an 8mm home movie from 1979. Like I'm expecting to hear the sound of a movie projector with it.
I just want to know if I'll be able to borrow it to check captive chassis threads since I like to impact everything

I will try to remember to shoot some video with mine when I get home.
I meant to ask the doctor today as he was doing my colonoscopy.

I ordered one today but it won't be in my hands for a while. I had to compromise. I decided that I would get a larger diameter camera because I was able to get the resolution, lens quality, and frame rate I wanted, and since it was $50 that saves me another Jackson to get a smaller/lower quality one later if I ever bought something with 10mm spark plugs. I was hoping to find one that was both small and had good imaging, but it appears not so in my budget.
For now I ordered this one:
That .7" turbo manifold and turbo is impressive
