I found an unbelievable deal on this site for a toy (ok ok its an rc boat. Another one) that sounds waaaay too good to be true. $14 for a $120+ item with free shipping!)
I googled the site and it is apparently a legit amazon-esque site out of China. DHgate is the site and individual stores/sellers actually sell items.
On the payment page, Apple Pay was the only option besides inputting cc info but it kept giving an error. Everything LOOKS good and legit and I think the security stuff is in place but I don't want to deal with a compromised credit card - especially if the items are not what I expect. And I can't see how they can ship a perfect, new $120 item to me from China for $14 total.
this seller (kaldk323523) has 950 transactions but no reviews that I could find. I've pretty much decided to follow the good old "if it sounds too good to be true..." but wanted to know if it's worth a shot?
If you're worried about your CC being compromised, one option is to use a gift card. Keep it small (like $20) and risk it that way. If it turns out to really be too good to be true, you're only out $20.

I'm sure it's a scam.
I found a different site recently when we were trying to buy some Kayaks (everything under $1000 is sold out everywhere).
So what is typically a $500 kayak was $92, or something like that.
A quick Google search showed it was BS.
try aliexpress for your direct from China needs. It works and is cheap. I'm ashamed I have shopped there but....

Wait, are you a sneakers guy too?
I've got my Westbrook's sitting in the closet now. Been wanting to get more.

Sort of. I do like the current westbrooks a ton, though I never bought them in the right colorway and now they're gone. Big fan of the Kyries, wore my 4's straight to death.hoping the release the 6 Carmine's at some point, I'm not paying 250$ on stockx. But...I don't go super crazy over drops or anything. No hype beast bullE36 M3.
dhgate is basically knockoffs. I have bought a few soccer jerseys from there to use as bike riding jerseys.
I have ordered a couple of items from Bangood.com and been happy with them.

I order a LOT of machining supplies from Banggood. They are seriously the best source for carbide lathe inserts. The first time it didn't go through and I didn't know why until I got a call from my business credit card stating they thought that one of my employees was trying to buy pornography on the company card
Unfortunate name, good quality, inexpensive carbide tooling
Well I have decided that, based on what you all have said that even if I did get something in the mail, it probably would not be what I was expecting. And the credit card risk isn't worth it.
ill keep looking!

They sell knockoffs, I managed to get a pretty good fake atlas bipod for about $45 compared to the real deal at around $200.
I wasn't going to pay that much for the real one and the fake needed a bit of modification to work correctly but I'm happy with it.
Sounds good - did you pay via credit card on the seller's site?
Think of it as an eBay with fixed prices and all Mainland China sellers. It can be a good go-to site for cheap trinkets, but I wouldn't expect high quality or buy safety-critical goods there.
is Wish.com the same idea ?
their stuff seems real cheap , not sure about shipping cost .....

Shipping is frightfully cheap. Like how the berkeley can you send it from China to here for that when I can't even send a smaller package across the state for that cheap.
I've gotten some garbage from wish for sure, but also a lot of cool and strange E36 M3 I never knew existed.

While the subject of kayaks had come up, it's nice to see a canoe for sale, too.
Since this was revived, does anyone buy from AliExpress? A couple years back the Mrs and I were looking for surreys (4 wheel bikes) but everything says shipping is to port only. How do you get it to your house from there? I am not an importer of goods, I have no clue what to do there
Yeah Banggood and Aliexpress are the sketchiest I'm comfortable with. You might be surprised how many of the items on Amazon are Aliexpress shipments with extra markup - generally anything with long shipping times.

I was slumming for car parts and slot cars on Ali Excess without any intent to buy anything.
I spied what was supposed to be a HO ish car at around $4 including shipping.
Yeah, I had to buy one just to see what it was. The car turned out to be from what looks like a battery powered set. The parts for the car will not interchange with anything else in my collection, which is no surprise. But I have my $4 worth.

Wait so it came straight to your house? It wasn't like "and this shopping cost will get it only to the port, from there you must have the customs inspection, etc.?"
In reply to P3PPY :
I order stuff from Aliexpress all the time and it comes striaght to my door. I think I've only seen an extra customs charge once or twice. It's a great place to shop for cheap bike parts or electronics components.

Well shoot. I wonder what I'm doing wrong then. I'll have to poke around some more. Maybe it's just really big things-- like a surrey, for instance.
