I'm finally done complaining, it's time for a change. I need some new slippers, and I don't know where to look because I've been disappointed with every pair I've ever owned.

It seems like they all fall into 2 camps "might as well not be wearing them" or "so warm your feet sweat then freeze".

Maybe a vented slipper or something with moisture wicking abilities would fit the bill, but I'm not aware of any.

So what does the hive like?

I would just go with good socks, but between the dog and the kid, my floor is covered in random wet spots and wet socks are terrible.

I have some levies slippers that aren't too warm. $10-15 at Walmart. My biggest issue is sizing. They come S/M/L/XL. The 8/9 M is too small, the 10/11 L is looser than I want.

I gave up on the search. I now pair good socks with either Birkenstocks or an old pair of boat Shoes. Can customize with the sock.

Since I work from home a lot, I'm in slippers all the time.  After a bout with plantar fascitis a few years ago, I decided to invest in some good ones that have support.  I ended up with these.  I'm on my second pair, I get a couple of years out of them.  Very comfy.

I have these Acorn slippers, I like them but haven't tried anything else to compare them to.

I have LL Beans, but the fleece does make you sweat.  I also have a pair of Dockers, I think, that are okay also.  Mostly, I just run around the house in socks, but it can be hard on the feet, not to mention the socks.  It's fun to practice the Tom Cruise Risky Business slide down the hardwood-floored hallway, but my wife gets after me for going around in my underwear.

Wool is better than fleece or most any synthetics as far as limiting sweat/keeping your feet warm even if they're wet. Wayyy better than modern synthetic fleece.

I love the Duluth harbor ones.  They are the company that really solve men’s problems. Like their buck naked underwear. Shirts that solve the plumbers crack issue etc.

I've tried slippers before, and as a general rule I find them to be substantially inferior to a pair of comfortable shoes in every category. I gave up on finding a good set of slippers and just wear shoes all the time.

These have been outstanding.

1. Crocks and Socks are the bee's knees.  You can fine-tune the system to be whatever you want.  Highly recommend them, just stay inside.

2. Woolrich Chatham Run Slippers

Hand's Down, the best slipper ever.  These were handed down from the Gods, not manufactured, and it shows.

I have a pair of onitsuka tiger ultimate 81's that I scored online for about $25 on clearance. They are really lightweight and comfy. I try not to wear them that much and they are great with my racing simulator setup, could be a good shoe alternative for just around the house.

I do have a pair of slippers that I wear occasionally but forget what they are called, and to be honest they aren't all that great.  The sole is too plasticy so it makes noise as I walk around the house on hardwood floors.

Same problem as the OP.  My feet are either cold, or sweating in fleece and then get cold from the sweat.

I'd recommend some wool socks and the slipper of your choice (with minimal lining) in the next larger size. The wool socks keep my feet dry and warm. The slippers supply the traction.

I've given up the hunt and embraced bare foot for life. Flip flops to get the kid on the bus because cold concrete sucks

I've had multiple pairs of Homer Simpson slippers, fun and cozy.  I just ordered these over the weekend.

Looks like this was a canoe revival.

I now use crocs as slippers. Add whatever socks are appropriate for the weather/situation if necessary. Light, durable, the addition of the socks makes it comfortable for any situation you would wear slippers in.

Crocs for slippers here. I'll probably donate or toss the slippers I tried.

I was on vacation earlier this year and in peak beach bum laziness, I bought a pair of these slip-on Skechers:

I don't necessarily like how they look, but as slippers and kick-around-the-house shoes, they rule.

I know this is a canoe revival but I just wanted to note how glad I am that I'm not the only one who has reached the stage in my life that socks and plastic shoes are now my go-to footwear in the house. I got really nice Ugg slippers last Christmas but I still prefer the 'whatever socks I'm wearing and the cheap(er) plastic Birks' as the house and lawn wear. I can't go full full-Croc yet...

In reply to David S. Wallens :

I should probably just accept this. I end up with socks to alleviate the cold-or-sweaty thing anyhow.

The reality is that I rarely wear slippers. It's rare that I'm up and doing without getting fully dressed.
