I built my new computer from stuff that was on sale for black friday and I thought I had a good key laying around but I can't find it. Anybody got an extra one they'd be willing to part with?

Nope I don't have a key for a $300 piece of software laying around, but you can PM me for something almost as good

for those of us not computer programmers and used windows all our lives, can you recommend a user friendly version of linux that works similar to windows GUI?
eventually ill be building a PC too and am also trying to avoid having to buy a copy of windows again.

Linux Mint w/ MATE desktop. Still good even if you are a programmer - that's what I use.
Or if you like wacky new interfaces, Ubuntu
I've used Ubuntu since 2009. No complaints. I've dabbled in other flavors, including Mint and Bodhi, but Ubuntu requires the least effort, IMHO.

My toolbox computer at work is running Ubuntu and it works OK for streaming audiobooks, looking stuff up on the web and anything that doesn't require internet explorer.
I'm pretty sure I want a copy of windows for my gaming rig though. I downloaded a custom MLP version of Windows 7 ultimate and didn't realize all the old keys I had laying around were for other versions of windows 7. Worst case scenario is I pay for a copy of 10 because I'm pretty sure no one sells 7 any more.
