I've caught a couple episodes. On the down side, he quickly lapses into superlatives, pretty much labeling every car he gets his hands on "the most incredible car ever". And he's largely unintelligible. On the plus side, he seems to be getting pretty cool access. This week he got a guided tour at McLaren, including getting to drive their latest/greatest "street car". Last week, he did a special on Alfas and got his hands on a 4C. In each episode I've seen so far, he's spent time talking about the history of the brands, racing history, former greats who drove for them, etc. All interesting stuff . . . if you can understand him. Locally, it's on at 10pm on Saturdays. Worth an hour of your time IMHO.
I saw bits of an episode where he was doing some wilderness excursion that involved a river crossing in a bunch of Land Rovers. He looked like he was having a blast. I was entertained. My wife, who doesn't usually like this stuff, was like, "you need to watch this... this old guy is having a blast!" and that's when I informed her of who it was.
Will watch again!
One of the highlights of my career (so far) was getting to interview Brian Johnson at the Mitty. I'll catch the show once it hits streaming.
Johnson is a well-known enthusiast and vintage racer. What's really cool (for me) is that the show is very much like (dare I generalize) one of US got to go see and do the things he is doing. No ego-tastic rock star stuff, just wide open wonder. I'd be slinging superlatives, too, given the chance. It isn't a car review, it's a bucket-list thing. The research gets done, too, so it is informative. No reality show drama, no fake deadlines and auction cliffhangers. It's the show that My Classic Car wishes it could be. Two thumbs up.
