Got a phone call from a friend with a 2009 Caravan throwing a P0452 code (Evap pressure Sensor/ Switch Circuit Low). They took it to a shop and got an estimate of $1,400 to replace the entire fuel tank. That's when they called me.

The shop thinks the sensor/switch is stuck closed. Shop says the sensor/switch is part of the fuel tank assembly and not available separately, so the whole tank needs replacement. While I can see Dodge doing something dumb like that, I can also see it being serviceable some other way. My first thought was to check all the wiring connectors and hoses to/from the tank. Next would be to find the actual sensor and see if it can be removed/cleaned.

For now I told my friends to put on a new gas cap just in case, and to hold off on the fuel tank swap until I get more info. My buddy is pretty handy but he was swamped with work this week so he sent it to a shop for a diagnosis. If the sensor is truly part of the tank and can't be serviced, I'm leaning towards finding a used tank.

I figured someone here has laid hands on a fuel tank for one of these things, I've only ever done the brakes on one with my buddy.
