on the 7th
"4pm-8pm, Customs-N-Classics Cruise Night, VFW Hall, 28th St., 6pm cruise begins, awards presented" in Ludington"
I agree with Silver Lake, it is fun. On holiday weekends it is best to get there early as the line to get in can be long.
Also, if you're a fan of Man-Made engineering, hike to the top of the Pump-Storage facility.
The SS Badger steams across the Lake daily. I believe that it is the last commercial coal powered ship in the USA. It is impressive.

Not sure about coal, but there are many steam-powered ships still in commercial service on the Great lakes actually, including the St. Mary's Challenger, originally launched in 1906. Most if not all probably run on fuel oil.

thinking about taking the july 4th cruise up the coast on the badger to watch the fireworks. the father in law's place is boring as can be unless you like sitting there with no phone signal, no internets, nobody in earshot, and like staring at farm.
Rent a dirt bike and go exploring? There are tons of back country gravel and two-tracks.
bah i don't need to rent one, i could take mine.
Whiskey Creek isn't too far from Branch.. Great trail riding.
