I got a Beugler striper tool at the swap meet this morning for a couple bucks ,
No instructions , but I am sure I can find something on Google / Youtube ,
The question that will be harder to answer is there any water based paint I can use to practice ?
and how do you check the viscosity ?
I would like to be able to do clean-up with warm water if possible .
I know the usual way is to use One Shot lettering enamel but right now I would just like to play and do not want to spend the $$$$ now.

I'm trying to get my college aged artist architect daughter to learn pinstriping and sign painting. She said it looks too hard. She has a talent and I told her very few will know this art in the future.
Never used this roller but we bought some paint and a striping brush to fail at it.

I do (or used to, its been awhile now) striping with brushes but I also have a bugler tool. Its really nice when you need to pull a long consistent line, also great for striping steel wheel rims.
Sadly I don't know about what you could use to practice with it, I've only ever run one shot through mine.
Remember learning letters in first grade? Drawing an angle on that big paper over and over? Then doing actual letters in between the lines over and over?
Learning to pinstripe is an old door and a rag with paint thinner on it. Paint a small angle line a hundred times - wipe the paint off as you go. Get an old hood or door and practice, practice and practice your straight lines then leave fancy stuff for later.
A body shop in the Joliet, Illinois area was teaching a one night pin striping class but I didn't go.
This came to mind.....

But I agree with just One Shot and practice. And no caffeine.
