First off, please don't flounder my question with your opinions about religion. Yes, I know it is a Christian faith based system. Got it. Also, I don't need any floundering about the ACA, Obamacare, or the like.
I've been using an insurance broker for the last three years to help me pick the right insurance through the HealthCare.gov site. For the first time ever he has now recommended Medi-Share (https://mychristiancare.org/medi-share/). My kids are on the state insurance kids insurance (PeachCare), so this would only be for my wife and I. My wife has some meds that are permanent, so our biggest concern is usually prescription costs. I figured at least one person on here uses this plan and could give some feedback. I read through the site and saw what they don't cover, but for what we are paying already ($560 a month) and what Medi-Share quoted ($250 a month) I can pay for my own physical.
From what I can tell we'd only get a discount on meds, and pay most of our physicals out of pocket. Of course the female-related tests are pricey, so that plus drug costs may end up pushing Medi-Share out of the running.
No experience with this particular plan, but pretty familiar with the concept behind it.
Have you had a look what their maximum annual payout would be? From what I've seen a fair number of these plans have a relatively low cap on that.
Also, most if not all of these plans are co-ops and usually don't use reinsurance. IOW, if enough members suddenly develop expensive illnesses, there's a chance the co-op may go belly up. But if it works out cheaper for you for even a year or two in total, it might still be worth it.

It is tempting to try it for a year. The kids will have insurance no matter what, so it is only for my wife and I. I will look into their payout limit though.
We're currently on 'short term health insurance' Because Flounder. You can look into that. It's basically what we had but not 'approved' and you can't have it forever. So we're paying for insurance and the penalty...still a better deal.
But I've read several good things about cost sharing in general and depending on how the flounder goes we'll probably be getting it soon.
If you don't know about the free prescription cards/phone apps they can save some money too.
