one of our members, katy b. wants to join a womens football league. she was told that she could try out. then told she couldnt then told again she could. Katy is transgendered. they asked her for documentation which she provided. After jumping through the hoops that they threw at her. they decided to not let her try out.. i am e mailing the league and voicing my displeasue to what they did. and i am asking if the GRM crowd would join me in voicing there opinion to the league. i so ask that you not mention her directly. but instead address there policy. unless katey says it is ok to mention her directly.
thanks

BARNCA, please edit your OP to mention not to use her name in your letter. KatyB says she'd prefer not to have attention drawn specifically to her. (I assume that means it should be drawn, instead to their policies. Perhaps she can clarify here.)

for the most part please just show your displeasure with thier policy. i do not want to draw attention specifically to myself with this. however i do feel strongly that the policy they do have (surgery required) is outdated and wrong. reasoning for the policy is obviously competative equality however reality is most transwomen are at a disadvantage (first 99% of us were never well built) secondly most of us have lower testosterone after hormone therapy than genetic women. thus in reality making us weaker and in theory slower than if we had been born in the correct body in the first place. im sure there are very few transwomen who want to play football as is. and even fewer on car forums lol. just to me requiring surgery is an outdated policy especially with some states not even requiring surgery for amending a birthcertificate. and the us government does not require surgery for updateing your passport. but to play a sport we do?
I wrote twice from two different email addresses.
Requiring surgery??? That's like the time I got denied a job in a warehouse because I had a tattoo. Granted, a tattoo isn't surgery like it is for Katy, but the uniforms would have concealed my ink, no customers were allowed in the warehouse, and no-one would have ever seen the tat. I was denied the job because I was "the type of guy who would have a tattoo." As a society we have so far to go.
Seriously... when we watch an NFL game, is there any possible way we could tell if one of those players were male, female, gay, straight, bi, a left-dresser, a Sagittarius, or allergic to shellfish? They all wear spandex pants that make their asses look incredible
... wait, what?

I wouldn't hire Curtis because he's the type of person to have someone with a 'fro as an avatar.

im gonna go buy a fro wig just for leslie to play with.
Boy, this thread got suggestive all of a sudden. (puts curlers in hair for perm 'fro for Leslie to play with.)
This photo was taken Friday night. Enjoy.
I had gone to a going-away party for me and Kim (moving to Pittsburgh) and some of the gals braided my hair. I came home and brushed it out and this is what I got.
If I group of people isn't interested in having you as member, berkeley 'em. Find a league that doesn't care about the issue at hand.

No, it was a headshot that I used for comedy submissions when I lived in L.A. Its probably from 2002-2003. My hair wasn't long in HS.
Back on topic though... I haven't received a message back from the league, which means one of two things - either they're super busy with all the mail we're slamming on them, or their just ignoring it.

In reply to curtis73:
curtis i did recieve a reply. thier policies are because of the ioc. i have argued my point that the ioc's policy was written to placate people more than include. useing hard facts to prove my point and pointed out that the ncaa changed thier policy recently based on feeling that the ioc policy they had been using was excluding more than including.
