I still use explorer and I get a week every couple of months where this site (and only this site) will continually crash my browser

Well, I did just buy a car, so that did a pretty good job of clearing out my cash.
Check Firefox's video acceleration settings. That's the most common cause of Firefox crashes on Linux. Some are only in about:config.
