Wait. Someone other than a rental agency actually BOUGHT a Versa? Why? Why would someone do that to themselves? There are so many better cars in that segment that it isn't even funny.
Sigh, people really need to consult with the GRM hive mind before buying E36 M3 like that.
We couldn't find anything better in the "Brand new and $13k" Segment.
We did try, though! Test drove a Mirage. Which was.... the worst thing ever, and more money.
The Versa drove and felt like a 1992 Sentra. For better or for worse. Felt like a car. He bought car.
Traded in a 2010 Mini Cooper S on it. He's been ecstatic with his purchase.
Still does not compute (though ditching the Mini before it sucked him dry from behind was a good idea). To each their own though.

Read the manual?
Just sayin'
Okay, so you can unlock the hatch by going to the driver door and double-turning the key. Wouldn't it be a good thing if you could unlock the hatch AT THE HATCH??
In another part of that linked site it mentions a specific button on the fob to unlock the hatch only. I agree with the need to have some mechanism at the rear of the car to open the hatch. Just figured it was like the Optima where they use keyless trunk release button on FOB as standard.
In regards to the Versa....don't know if the newest ones are like this but a couple years back the base Versa without power locks actually DID have power locks....
There was no remote keyless fob and no button on the doors, but the actuators were still in place and wired up to the BCM. I remember doing a PDI on one and the auto unlock setting in the BCM was set to "when key is removed from ignition". So you'd shut the car off and take the key out and all the doors would go "CHUNK!" and unlock. There's no way to lock them except manually, so you'd have to reach around to all four doors and lock them again every time you got out of the car. Super annoying.
I'd bet if you bought a key fob you could register it to the car and "add" power locks to your Versa for very little money....
Oh yeah, I turned off the auto lock/unlock stuff so the car truely had "manual locks" before putting it on the lot...
I assume this would be too ugly and isn't equipped that way:
Note: Not a KIA.
I like to support manufacturers that make manual transmissions the only option on their top range models.

I'd love for you to be right. In fact, the US Kia website is even deceptive about this.
If you look at the "features" table for the base Soul, it does indeed say RKE (and cruise) are standard on the base Soul.
But for both of these items, there is a "disclaimer" that you can click on. If you do, you get a pop-up box that says "requires automatic transmission".
That's bullpucky marketing. If it's standard, it's standard, not "standard, but only if you buy a $2000 automatic transmission package."
I'd go to a dealer and look at one and not believe the website. I'm quite positive my wife's Kia Soul has RKE and cruise control with a manual transmission so it is possible, but it may not be standard equipment with a manual transmission. Perhaps the wording is misleading.

My Xterra has RKE, one lock cylinder on the drivers door and another on the rear hatch (yay). For chivalry, one must press the RKE unlock button once to unlock only the drivers door then press it again within 5 seconds to unlock all doors. Now one can be chivalrous. Pressing the lock button once locks all doors.

Caravan is this way - one lock cylinder, cannot unlock or lock all with multiple turns of the key. It's mildly irritating.
My wife has a first-gen Soul and it has the RKE and a manual, it is odd that they would have changed that spec. I mean, do the cables for the manual mount in the same spot as the box for the RKE or something? Weird.
She does not have a key fob for my Rondo, so whenever she drives it she has to use the one lock. She is just in the habit of walking to the driver's door first and unlocking all of the doors. I will gladly walk the extra few steps to have a car that is more secure.

IIRC yours is a very new version? If so I think you can turn that feature on or off in the EVIC. You might check the owners' manual.
I remember when cars just had a lock on each door. That you stuck a key into. Nobody complained about that.
Of course they did. Ever have a lock ice up? Honestly, I am surprised at the number of people who become completely helpless when their 'clicker' (RKE fob) goes tits up with a dead battery or when it gets run through the washing machine (more common than you might think).
In reply to Swank Force One:
You wouldn't believe the issues that come from those darn lock cylinders. Ask General Motors!
After-all the starter cylinder is just another lock cylinder but with electrons going through it!
And while it saves costs to remove all but one manual lock on the car, it also saves WEIGHT!!! something we GRMs like. Also, improves the security from the classic punched in lock cylinder.
Of course this just moves the issue into that less publicly understood realm of using key fob emulators and other technology to steal your car with no damage. Just make the car sense that you have the key open, start, and do whatever criminals do. Why can't people just get their own stuff instead of taking someone elses?

My recent base model Optima purchase comes with the key fob with buttons to pop the trunk only and unlock/lock doors.
I think it is more likely that the marketing contractor didn't understand that.
Also when you say RKE I am assuming we are talking about the key fob. NOT the keyless entry where the proximity RFID allows you to unlock/lock and start the car without removing the keys or fob from pocket.

Well, a Google search of "add keyless entry Kia Soul" points to enough Forum posts to indicate that there are, indeed, 2015 Kia Souls with manual transmissions to which the owners want to add keyless entry. That also tells me it isn't standard. I suppose it is possible that they come with a key fob but the owners think it did.

There is nothing inherently wrong with a Versa. I appreciate them for what they are, and typically they are the cheapest car in Canada (sans Accents when they are on sale).

this literally happened to me on vacation, preggo wife, feeling sickish after a long day sightseeing and such. couldnt open her door for her to let her in first.
it was with one of the aforementioned wonders of automotive design, the Nissan Versa.

Sure, because you can't get in after the lock has seized from four years of never being used.

If I could post pictures, I'd show you me picketing in favor of the ERA at a feminist rally. Pretty sure that fits the definition of "Feminist".
You are showing your age. Have heard "CP" in a long time.
