If it looks like a pickle, and feels like a pickle, it's probably a pickle.
Definition http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatchback
And you gotta believe wikipedia cause it is on the internet so it has to be true...

You should probably stop feeling pickles.

I would call most of the second list "Fastbacks".
In any case, if when you open the trunk, you also open the window, I tend to call it a hatch.

I don't gotta believe nothing man...nothing at all!

Oh my! All those posts of hatchbacks and no FX16? What's with that? I am truly disappointed.

^THIS^
My s13 is a fastback, and the one with a trunk is a coupe. If my fastback is a coupe (as per you), then what is the model with a trunk?
I've also heard the mustangs referred to as fastbacks and coupes. What was the point of this?

This is ripe for smack talk. Biting my tongue!
Chevy called their Nova a Hatchback. Perhaps they should've contacted Nicksta43 first.
Zoom in on the Nova and read what the badge on the c-pillar says.
Edit: beat by Joe
why is this in off topic?
Okay, then what differentiates these two completely different body types?
So you get cheesed off at someone calling a not-hatchback a hatchback but in the process call a bunch of not-coupes coupes? Sounds like you need to rail against yourself in another post.

Because I knew going into it this will end very badly.

You need to go back to riding your dinosaur and quit arguing the merits of the hatchback/fastback nonsense.
Also, to berkeley with you even more, anything more than 2 doors + hatch is a berkeleying WAGON.

That's the thing, they aren't completely different. They are actually quite similar. For the most part, only the angle of the hatch differentiates them as far as body style.
I've never been around so many wrong people all at once. It's kinda surreal.

And, just to add fuel to the fire: No matter what the marketing department chooses to call it, ceci n'est-ce pas un coupe :

Really!?!?! Not even close to being similar.
