Saw an update on this. Apparently there are likely so many li'l MMK Juniors running around that the potential for an invasive species problem is far from over, and this was rather disappointingly not a total DIY job, but was done by tricking a pet cloning company into doing the science-y bits:

I've been wondering about the 42 monkeys that recently escaped from a research center in South Carolina...they apparently have recovered 24 of them, but the rest are still at large.
