So I've been using my challenge car as a DD (beige bmw 535i). Today I'm buzzing down the interstate - just enjoying how well it's working when I spot a trooper rolling along the opposite direction. I'm cruising by a beige camry, look down - uh oh 81 - see the trooper lights go on. I pull into right lane and coast down to about 74. Trooper swings around hauls ass up to the camry and pulls him over. I don't have much doubt that was meant for me. Tough luck for camry.

Camrys ARE almost invisible...and beige or silver ones are even more(?) invisible. I wonder if the folks who drive/own them realize that fact and/or even buy them just for that reason?

I haven't been pulled over for speeding in nearly 25 years...and attribute most of that to the inocuous cars I drive. Tho, in the case of my current car (a silver '97 Civic) I think it's because the speedo is HUGELY optimistic.

That's what you get for driving a Camry.

had a similar experience once, but it was my f150 and a guy in a mustang. we were both doing 75-80 through an area where the limit goes from 70 to 65.

we pass a cop and he jumps in the car and pulls out, i figured he was after me since i was in the left lane and going a bit faster than the mustang at the time (he was in the RL and slowed a bit), but as soon as the cop pulled out and hit his lights, mustang guy is already diving for the shoulder. i kept on going and the cop went after the guilty looking party.

In reply to mtn: It was down on I-80 near the indiana/illinois border. If you're home from school, the car(s) are waiting.

The cop probably thought the Toyota had the throttle stuck wide open...

nearly the opposite happened to me on a trip back form Mont-Tremblant a few years ago. i was in my m3 traveling with an s50 e30 with a maxima i think that just happened to be driving at the front, just a couple miles south of the canada border in VT and there's a trooper waiting dug in in a little hole in the woods, went past around 80mph, lights come on, i pull over almost immediately at the rear and the other e30 follows suit, the trooper blows past us and pulls over the maxima that kept on goin, thanks buddy!

well, in that case.. the Trooper probably tagged the Maxima at 80mph on the radar.. by law, that was the one he had the most legal recourse on

I was the "other car" a few years ago. The PoPo had a speed trap setup for about a week in this one area I passed through daily. The cop's car was up on a hill between the overpass pillar and a really tall row of bushes. On the way home from work one day, as I get near the spot I slow down to the speed limit and get in the far right lane. Just as I get near the overpass, a suburbon on my left( between me and the cop) passes me doing about 80-85. Of course, he pulls out and pulls me over. The guy must have been asleep, 'cause he claims he never say another car, but looked real shocked when I mentioned it and started describing the car to him.

End result was that I got a ticket for 9 over and I chalked it up as my ticket for all the times that I didn't get caught speeding.

Same thing happened to me in a stock 81 Pinto. Cop acually asked me if I knew the car would do 85. I countered with only if you push it off a cliff. He still gave me my carma ticket for all the times I didnt get caught.
