Washington Times said: Two weeks ago, Ray Schulze was working in a barn at the Society of St. Francis no-kill animal shelter in Kenosha, Wis., when officials swarmed the shelter with a search warrant. “[There were] nine [Department of Natural Resources] agents and four deputy sheriffs, and they were all armed to the teeth,” Mr. Schulze told WISN 12. “It was like a SWAT team.” PHOTOS: What are the chances? The agents were there to retrieve a baby deer named Giggles that was dropped off by a family worried she had been abandoned by her mother, the station reported. Wisconsin law forbids the possession of wildlife. “I said the deer is scheduled to go to the wildlife reserve the next day,” Mr. Schulze told the station. “I was thinking in my mind they were going to take the deer and take it to a wildlife shelter, and here they come carrying the baby deer over their shoulder. She was in a body bag. I said, ‘Why did you do that?’ He said, ‘That’s our policy,’ and I said, ‘That’s one hell of a policy.’” Department of Natural Resources Supervisor Jennifer Niemeyer told WISN 12 that the law requires DNR agents to euthanize wild animals because of their potential danger. The station asked if the raid could have been done in a less costly manner by making a phone call first. “If a sheriff’s department is going in to do a search warrant on a drug bust, they don’t call them and ask them to voluntarily surrender their marijuana or whatever drug that they have before they show up,” the supervisor responded. Shelter president Cindy Schultz said she plans to sue the agency. “They went way over the top for a little, tiny, baby deer,” Miss Schultz said.

DNR, doesn't matter where you go, they're mostly dicks. Its the country version of all those HS bullies that became cops. In MI thy are all issued M16s, I'm not kidding. Are they afraid they're gonna get ambushed by whitetails?

That "deer" was going to wiki leaks with information on the NSA's deer recon unit. You can see from this photo that they have been trained to use weapons... those DNR agents were wise to come armed.

True story: I was architect on a re-roof job at a neighborhood middle school. One Friday morning half a dozen DNR cops with guns show up and throw everybody off the entire site because there was suspected asbestos in the flashing.

Thousand or so square feet of roof already torn off, about what the roofers could have buttoned up over the course of the day. Instead, it sat open over the weekend until Tuesday before the roofer was allowed to return.

Of course, it poured rain most of the weekend. Wiped out about 10,000 volumes in the school library, plus a dozen computers, not to mention the entire ceiling, carpet, a bunch of light fixtures, etc. and water damage to all the adjoining spaces.

Sure glad we pay taxes to have people like that protecting our environment from dangerous E36 M3...

Last night I went nearly 4 off at about 55 mph to avoid another suicidal deer.

No, really Bambi, its fine...take my travel lane! I really wanted to see how much suspension travel I had anyway.

I don't know which is worse; the DNR going all storm-trooper on a shelter or mapper fabricating a completely wrong and inflammatory link title.
