I'm needing to find a stupidly easy OBD 2 scanner for one of my clients at the company I work for. I'll be shipping it to him so I won't be able to show him how it works in person. Just needs to give the basics and doesn't need to be able to erase codes as he'll just be using it to read codes during appraisals. I found this one on amazon that rated well, but figured i'd ask the hive what else may be out there that i'm missing.
Probably does at least as much as my Actron for 1/3 the money. I've had this thing for years. Paid for itself on the first use.
Ranked number One on Amazon? You can't go wrong.
Since it for a client, I’d recommend going to local chain store and getting their most basic one
Then you can open it up and try it before shipping it.
Even if you can’t be there to show him how to use it, if you’ve tried it you may be able to offer some guidance if there are issues

That's a great idea, I know they're dead easy to use. But sometimes these things elude people. But it's impacting business so i'm seeing what I can do.
Be sure to explain where the diagnostic connector is located. Some people have never had their head under a dashboard, if you can believe such a thing.

I got one of those super cheap code readers from Amazon. Looks exactly like that one but orange.
I wouldn't do it again. The pins in the ALDL cord are tin-foil thin and if you don't use extreme care plugging it in, it mashes some pins. It is also programed by the same people who do subtitles for b-grade kung fu movies from the 70s. It says things like "reading the all data from veicle ECU" and "really to erase?" I keep waiting for it to say "square left in 50 caution ocean"
I ended up with a HF special. We used it for years at the shop, sometimes dozens of times a day and after 7 years it was still kicking.
Presumably does at any rate really tick off 1988RedT2 when canoes plagiarize!
