It's a shame he didn't take more pics of the entire car. As a teenager when these were new, I thought they were super cool.

kinda like the DMC, the doors were the point.
The Bricklin supposed to be the safer sporty car with better crash protection than others. But also like the DMC, the door strut would fail and trap people inside.
A Bricklin is definitely on my "I'm not going out of my way to get one, but I'll take it if one lands in my lap" list of cars.
Every time I see Bricklin, I can't help but see see features from my favorite cars. It's kind of looks like a hodge podge car, but in the best way.
I went and read through the Bricklin FAQ section, it appears owners have come up with fixes for a number of the car's shortcomings. http://www.bricklin.org/TechCentral/TCFAQ.htm I think the first thing I'd do is rebuild the 351 Windsor engine with modern components to get more than the 175hp they had originally.
A friend raced one in Lemons. He still has PTSD from it. And this is a guy who also built a race car out of an AMC Spirit.
If you want to see just how awful they are, watch Vice Grip Garage's revival on one. The build quality is pretty kit car.
It's also worth remembering these were the brainchild of Malcolm Bricklin, a man who everything he touched turned to crap (while he somehow managed to always make money).

They made them here in NB Canada , to this day people here at car shows will say that it was somehow the fault of basically anyone but Mr Bricklin. But his track record suggests that the cause of the failure may have been predicted.
I do enjoy seeing them and saying "why would someone paint a delorean" just to see who pipes up.
I hadn't seen one since the 80s and then a couch of years ago parked next to one in the local Home Depot parking lot. A few days later, it showed up on Bring A Trailer.
A friend of my next door neighbor when I was a kid would visit in a white one, always thought it was very cool!
